LET TER FROM THE PRES IDENT

The snow is falling fast and furious as I write this and the

forecast is…well, what do they know anyway, huh? In sharp

contrast, the forecast here at the Conservatory is terrific–lots of

warm, wonderful music to chase the February/March blues

away, and there’s always a cup of coffee or glass of wine to

warm your insides as well as your spirit.

The Conservatory’s concert tradition is as storied as the Conservatory itself. In fact,

performances are so important to our modus operandi that they are written into

our mission statement: “the Conservatory provides the finest musical education

and performance opportunities…” Music is meant to be shared, and especially to

be shared live. Our concerts give voice to the diverse talents of our many faculty

members and provide opportunities for our students to hear standard as well as

lesser known repertoire.

This month’s programs span a fabulous spectrum–from an Alfred Schnittke piano

trio to the tunes of Billy Strayhorn; from Paul Silbergleit’s thoughtful musings

to Joe 2.0 (an electrified string quartet) with Xeno; from Peter Baime’s flamenco

guitar to the piano department’s Peter and the Wolf. Truly, this remarkable

collection of concerts embodies our main goal of cultivating and presenting

music “For Every Stage.” And while these performances may all take place on the

same stage, each will certainly offer a singular experience to all who attend.

MUSIC IAN B IOGR APHIES

Timothy Klabunde, violinWCM faculty member since 2005. Mr. Klabunde is the Assistant Principal Second Violin of the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and has been an orchestra member since 1980. He has served as Concertmaster for the Milwaukee Ballet and Milwaukee Civic Orchestras and has appeared as violin soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra and Manitowoc Symphony. In addition to his work with the Prometheus Trio, Mr. Klabunde is an adjunct instructor of violin and a member of the Clarus piano trio at Cardinal Stritch University.

Scott Tisdel, celloWCM faculty member since 2000. Acting Principal Cellist of the Milwaukee Symphony, has also served as Principal Cellist of the Milwaukee Cham-ber Orchestra since his arrival in Milwaukee in 1987, and has appeared as soloist with both en-sembles. Prior to his arrival in Milwaukee, Mr. Tisdel served as Principal Cello of the Florida Orchestra in Tampa and was a member of both the Oakland and San Jose Symphony Orchestras in Califor-nia. In addition to being the founding cellist of the Prometheus Trio, he was a founding member of the Conservatory’s Paganini Trio and the Strings in the Mountains Chamber Music Festival in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. Mr. Tisdel has recorded for Arundax, CRI, Fleur de Son, the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, and Oris Records.

Stefanie Jacob, pianistWCM faculty member since 1987. Stefanie Jacob made her solo debut with the Boston Pops at age 17 and her Carnegie Recital Hall debut in 1984. An avid cham-ber musician, she was twice awarded second prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and was awarded Indiana University’s Leo Weiner Prize for Chamber Music. Ms. Jacob has performed as a soloist with the Milwau-kee Symphony, the Milwaukee Chamber

Orchestra, and the Waukesha and Mani-towoc Symphonies, and has recorded for the Arundax, CRI, Fleur de Son, and the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. A grad-uate of Harvard and Indiana Universities, Ms. Jacob taught at the University of Tampa from 1985 to 1987, and since then at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music.

Robert Levine, violaRobert Levine has been the Principal Violist of the Milwaukee Symphony since September 1987. Prior to joining the MSO, Mr. Levine was a member of the Orford String Quartet, Quartet-in-Residence at the University of Toronto, with whom he toured extensively throughout Canada, the United States and South America. He has also served as principal violist of The Saint Paul

Chamber Orchestra and as guest principal violist

with the Indianapolis Symphony and the

Hong Kong Philharmon-ic. Mr. Levine has been

an active chamber musi-cian, having performed at the Festival Rolandseck in

Germany, the Grand Teton Music Festival, the Palm Beach Festival, the “Strings in the Mountains” Festival in Colorado, and numerous concerts in the Twin Cities and Milwaukee. He has also been active in the field of new music, having commissioned and pre-miered works for viola and orchestra from Minnesota composers Janika Vandervelde and Libby Larsen. In ad-dition, Mr. Levine serves as president of the Milwaukee Musicians Associa-tion, AFM Local 8 and on the Board of Directors of the League of American Orchestras. He has written extensively about issues concerning orchestra musicians for various publications as well as for Polyphonic.org. Mr. Levine attended Stanford University and the Institute for Advanced Musical Studies in Switzerland. His primary teachers were Aaron Sten and Pamela Gold-smith. He also studied with Paul Doctor, Walter Trampler, Bruno Giuranna, and David Abel.

Joseph Ketchum, violinWCM Faculty since 2007. Joseph Ketchum be-gan studying violin at the Wisconsin Conserva-tory of Music at age 4 with Ronald Melby and continued his studies with Mimi Zweig. While a Junior at The University School of Milwaukee, Mr. Ketchum performed as a featured soloist with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra. In 1997, he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Violin Performance from Northwestern Univer-sity under the tutelage of Dr. Myron Kartman, studied pedagogy with Betty Haig and served as Assistant Concertmaster of the Northwest-ern University Chamber Orchestra. Currently, Mr. Ketchum is active as a soloist, chamber musi-cian, pedagogue, and entrepreneur.

Tatiana Migliaccio, violaWCM faculty member since 2005. Violinist Tatiana Migliac-cio was born in the Ukraine and graduated from the Musical College of Ternopil. She later completed study at the Lviv Conservatory with degrees in Master of Cham-ber Music Performance and Pedagogy. After coming to the United States in 1994 Tatiana became a mem-ber of numerous orchestras, and became a member of the Wisconsin Con-servatory of Music faculty in 2005, successively teaching violin, music theory and chamber music to WCM students. Along with her teach-ing, Tatiana currently plays in the Wisconsin Philharmonic, Green Bay, Kenosha and Festival City Symphony Orchestras.

Olga Tuzhilkov, viola Olga Tuzhilkov came to the U.S. as the original violist for the Veronika String Quartet, which was formed in 1989 while studying at the Gnesins’ Russian Academy of Music in Moscow. The Veronika String Quartet has been awarded top prizes in international competitions in Russia, Australia, and in the United States and has collaborated in performances with the Fine Arts Quartet, Martin Lovett, formerly of the Amadeus Quartet, pianists James Tocco and Ruth Laredo, clarinetist Richard Stoltzman. Having performed in France, Germany, Holland, Spain, England, Switzerland, Israel, and toured extensively in Russia and the United States, Tu-zhilkov is active in the Milwaukee and Chicago area as freelance performer and is the adjunct instructor of viola and coaches upper strings and chamber ensembles at Stritch.

Scott Cook, celloNebraska native Scott Cook is well known as a teacher, chamber and orchestral musician. As soloist, recitalist and chamber and orchestral musician, he has performed around the world

as principal cellist of many orchestras in the Southeast and Wisconsin and as a member of the AIMS Orchestra in Graz, Austria and the Grand Teton Festival. He has made numerous recordings including those with members of the Swingle Singers, jazz recordings with Chuck Hedges and for Hal Leonard. Other chamber music collaborations include live broadcasts in Saint Louis, Greenville, SC, Wisconsin Public Radio and “Live at the Elvehjem Museum.” He is the artistic director of the Swannanoa Cham-ber Music Festival Workshop and the director of the international teaching workshop, Teaching Cello To Children at the String Academy of Wis-consin at the University of Wisconsin-Milwau-kee. In 2008 he was honored to be named the Studio Teacher of the Year by the Civic Music

Association of Milwaukee. As the recipi-ent of a full scholarship he received his Bachelor of Music from the Saint Louis

Conservatory and a Master of Music degree from The

University of Akron. His major cello teachers were Savely Schuster, Steven Schumway

and Michael Haber.

Kevin Kosmeder, drums & vocals

Mr. Kosmeder is from Cedarburg, WI where he started playing

drums at the age of 12 studying with Dan Cas-tro. He developed a love of Rock ‘n Roll music and pursued it with a passion. As he progressed he became the drummer for various bands including The Kos Brothers Band, The Surge, 10 Downing Street, Fargo, The Skip and Gail Show, Project Mix, Mark Vail, and others. He collaber-ated with Joe Ketchum in the band “Kirk Netzel & the Impurities”.

Xeno, vocalsXeno, a.k.a. Randall Hogan, began his life-long music career in his hometown of Rockford, IL. Always searching to enhance his music abilities, Xeno spent his teenage years singing, playing guitar, and writing rock music. From garage bands to brightly-lit stages, Xeno soon emerged as the original lead singer for Cheap Trick. After several years performing with Cheap Trick, Xeno moved to Minneapolis, MN where he continued his professional music career and shared the stage with performers suck as Yanni. From Minneapolis, Xeno moved to Milwaukee, WI. Xeno’s credits include singing with Mil-waukee’s own legendary group “Bad Boy,”and his voice can be heard on numerous albums. Xeno is also a veteran performer of Milwaukee’s music festival, Summerfest. Well-regarded by the international music community, Xeno has earned his reputation as a superlative singer, songwriter, musician, and performer.

Paul Silbergleit, jazz guitar WCM faculty member since 1996 and a member of the Conservatory’s We Six jazz sextet. B.A., OberlinCollege. An accomplished jazz composer as well as performer, Mr. Silbergleit has played clubs, concert halls and festivals throughout the area as both a leader and a sideman. He has appeared with Jack McDuff, Jon Faddis, Richie Cole, Melvin Rhyne, Brian Lynch, David Hazeltine, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, among others. Both his 1996 debut CD Silberglicity (on which other Conserva-tory faculty members are featured) and his 2003 release, My New Attitude, have made it onto the jazz charts with nationwide airplay, and he can also be heard on the 2005 We Six CD Bird Say. Mr. Silbergleit also teaches at Cardinal Stritch University.

Eric Jacobson, trumpetWCM faculty member since 2009. Eric Jacobson is a professional trumpet player, clinician, composer, and private instructor residing in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. Eric freelances in the Milwaukee and Chicago area playing in groups such as The Luis Diaz Quintet, Nabori, De La Buena, and leading his own jazz quartet. Eric has been fortunate to experience performances and lessons with numerous well-known artists, includ-ing Maynard Ferguson, Slide Hampton, Brian Lynch, Jim Rotondi, Tito Puente Jr., Eric Benet, and Wynton Marsalis. Eric was recently recognized in Jazzscope magazine by David Hoffman as having “a gorgeous round sound on both the trumpet and flugelhorn” and “on his way to being a jazz giant.” Eric also teaches at MYSO, Wauwatosa West High School’s Jazz Ensemble and assists the Wauwatosa West Marching Band. In 2001 Eric released his debut jazz CD entitled Inspiration which features some of Mil-waukee’s best jazz musicians as well as New York trumpet sensation Brian Lynch. Eric is currently working on his second album.

Maxon Day, tromboneWCM faculty member since 2002. MM, and BFA from UW-Milwaukee. Mr. Day is an active trombonist, conductor and composer, and currently serves as Director of the Conservatory Connections program and Chair of the Woodwind and Brass department. A committed and experienced private instruc-tor, he formerly taught at the Waukesha County Conservatory of Music and served as Music Director for SafeZone Community Art Center, Director of Jazz at Wauwatosa West High School, Associate Conductor for the UWM Youth Wind Ensembles and UWM Bands, Interim Director for Music From Almost Yesterday, Director of the UWM Panther Band, and taught theory and general music for UWM.

John Babbitt, bassWCM faculty member since 1994. Mr. Bab-bitt graduated in 1985 from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee with a Masters degree in performance on double bass. He has worked ex-

tensively throughout the Midwest as a professional bassist and educator both in classical and jazz formats. Mr. Babbitt served as WCM faculty chair of the String Department from 1996 to 1999, and has also served as adjunct faculty at UW-Milwaukee, UW-Stevens Point, Concordia University, Carroll College, Alverno College Community Arts Depart-ment, The String Academy at UW-Milwaukee, and the Oshkosh Summer String Program.

Jeff Hamann, bassWCM faculty member since 1998. A member of the Conservatory’s We Six jazz sextet, Mr. Hamann attended the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, winning first place in the Jazz Studies Scholarship competition four years in a row. He has worked as a clinician and jazz festival judge in the Milwaukee, Kenosha and Waukesha public schools as well as at UW-Milwaukee, UW-Madison and UW-Green Bay. Performing with such well-known artists as Frank Morgan, Marlena Shaw, Steve Allen, and Eric Alex-ander, he has toured throughout the Midwest and

has appeared at Jazz Yantra in Bombay, India. Jeff is also the bassist on Michael Feldman’s Whad’Ya Know

show, airing Saturdays on Wisconsin Public Radio and broadcast nation-

ally on NPR stations. He can be heard on the 2005 We Six CD Bird Say.

David Bayles, drumsWCM faculty member since 1997. B.F.A. Music Education UW-Milwaukee. A member of the Conservatory’s We Six, Mr.

Bayles has worked with such jazz artists as Slide Hampton, Barry Harris, David

Hazeltine, Brian Lynch, Jack McDuff, Bob Mintzer, Frank Morgan, James Moody, Melvin Rhyne, and Ernie Watts. Dave performs at jazz clubs and music festivals throughout the Midwest. Recording credits include the Luis Diaz Quintet (On the Edge), the Curt Hanrahan Quintet (Hang Time), the Juli Wood Quintet (Movin’ and Groovin’) and the 2005 We Six CD Bird Say. Dave’s or-chestral credits include timpani with the Rome Festival Orchestra and percussion with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra. As a clinician for Yamaha Music Corporation and Zildjian Cymbals, he travels and teaches widely throughout the U.S. and Canada. Dave also teaches percussion at UW-Parkside in Kenosha, WI.

Terry Smirl, drumsWCM faculty member since 2009. Terry Smirl is percussionist with Present Music, one of the nation’s foremost New Music groups, and he is Principal Timpanist with both the Milwaukee Ballet and the Waukesha Symphony Orchestras. As a jazz drummer he has performed with the area’s greatest artists including Chuck Hedges, Berkley Fudge, Hattush Alexander, Melvin Rhyne, and others, as well as national artists Bobby Shew, Anne Calloway and Jim Pugh. He’s performed at venues throughout the world, and he’s recorded with Present Music, the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, and others on Koss Classics, innova, Aoede, Albany Records, Changing Tone Records, Chameleon Records, and more.

Peter Baime, guitarWCM faculty member since 1969. Mr. Baime began his studies with Nino Bernardo in the U.S. and in Spain with the legendary gypsy guitarists Diego Gastor and Paco Gastor. He began his performance career in 1965. In 1996 Mr. Baime joined the faculty at Cardinal Stritch University. In addition to teaching he has performed more than 2,500 concerts in public schools. He has scored, performed, and recorded six documentary films airing on PBS. Mr. Baime performs extensively in the U.S. and Puerto Rico as well as in Spain, Canada, Italy and Mexico. He has recordings on the Dr. Black and Narada labels. He has com-missioned several contemporary and now-published works for classical gui-tar. In October 2000 he won an Emmy Award from the National Academy for Television Arts & Sciences for his origi-nal score in Indigenous Always.

Jennifer Schmitz, dancerJennifer Schmitz has been studying fla-menco dance with artists in the United States and Spain for over a decade and has been performing in theaters and tablaos since 2001. She spent five years in New York studying with resident and visiting flamenco artists from Spain (Omayra Amayra, Soledad Barrio, La Far-

ruca, La China, and Alejandro Granados) and traveling to

Centro de Arte Flamenco Amor

de Dios (Tomás de Madrid, Maria

Magdalena, Antonio and Manuel Reyes). In 2008 she attended

the Festival Flamenco Internacional de

Albuquerque where she had the opportunity to study with Rocío Molina and Inmaculada Ortega, as well as Joaquín and Marisol Encinias. She currently lives in Madison where she continues to study and perform flamenco and Spanish classical dance locally with Tania Tandias.

LaRita CraftWCM faculty member since 2009. LaRita holds a Bachelor’s degree in music from Goshen College and a Master’s degree in Piano Performance from the Kansas City Conservatory where she studied with Dr. Robert Weirich. Having also completed a minor in Piano Pedagogy from Goshen College, LaRita has been teaching piano lessons and classes for five years in different places, including the Goshen Community School of the Arts, the Kansas City Conservatory as a graduate teaching assistant, as well as many private students in both Kansas City and Goshen. LaRita enjoys collaborating with other musicians formally and informally on both piano and accordion.

Andrea DeGreiff-BeisserWCM faculty member since 2002. M.M, UW-Milwaukee; B.A. in Music, University of Nebraska-Kearney. Mrs. DeGreiff-Beisser’s broad training in-cludes studies in accompanying for instrumental and vocal ensembles and soloists. At age 13 she was chosen to participate in a solo concert with the Orchestra of the Conservatory of Music in Bogota, Colombia to play the Haydn Concerto in F. As a recitalist, she has appeared at the University of Nebraska and at the Biblioteca Luis Angel Arango Concert Hall and Olav Roots Auditorium in Bogota, Colom-bia, several opera productions with the UWM voice students, as well as several voice faculty recitals here at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music. She has studied under Har-old Martina, Blanca Uribe, James Cook, Jeffrey Peterson, Katjia Phillambaum, and Judit Jaimes.

Teresa DrewsWCM faculty member since 2003. MM in piano performance, Peabody Conservatory of Music of the Johns Hopkins University; BM cum laude in piano performance, Northwestern University. Member, Pi Kappa Lambda. At the Conservatory, Ms. Drews maintains a large private piano studio and also teaches group piano classes for children through adult. Through Conservatory Connections, she has taught general music and piano to K4-12th grade students at Holy Redeemer Christian Academy and the Daniels-Mardak Boys and Girls Club, as well as serving as the piano teacher for the Mature Musicians program at Alexian Village. An active performer in the Milwaukee area, she often collaborates with WCM faculty and other area musicians and is the staff accompanist at Alverno College. She has studied with Sylvia Wang, Ann Schein, and Seth Knopp, and performed in master classes by David Burge and Menahem Pressler. Prior to moving to Milwaukee, Ms. Drews taught piano in Baltimore, Maryland at the Friends School and The Music Workshop.

Rachel FritzWCM faculty member since 2007. B.M. from the University of Central Missouri, magna cum laude, M.M. from University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Certified by the International Piano Teaching Foundation through Level 3. Suzuki Certified through Book 1. Previously held position as group piano faculty at the Des Moines Symphony Academy. Rachel also serves as accompa-nist for the Soli Deo Gloria Woodwind Ensemble and as pianist/organist at Redemption Lutheran Church.

Stefanie JacobWCM faculty member since 1987. M.M. with highest distinction in Piano Performance, Indiana University; A.B., magna cum laude, Harvard Univer-sity. She was twice awarded Second Prize at the Fischoff National Chamber Music Competition and received Indiana University’s Leo Weiner Prize for Chamber Music. Ms. Jacob has soloed with both the Milwaukee Symphony and the Milwaukee Chamber Orchestra and recorded for the Arundax, CRI, Fleur de Son, Equilibrium and the Wisconsin Conservatory labels. She is a found-ing member of the Conservatory’s Prometheus Trio.

Kari JohnsonWCM faculty member since 2010. M.M. in Piano Performance/Pedagogy, University of Wisconsin-Madison; B.M. in Piano Performance, St. Olaf College. Piano study with Catherine Kautsky and Kenneth Graber, pedagogy study with Jessica Johnson. Previously, Kari taught in the Boston area at the Yamaha Music School of Boston and Winchester Community Music School, and at Beloit College and Arboretum Music School in Wisconsin. Her performing experience includes performances

at the Music at Castle Franc summer program in Castres, France, and performances at prisons,

homeless shelters, hospitals, and schools as part of a grant to bring

classical music to underserved audiences in Wisconsin.

Janina KnechtgesWCM Faculty since 2008. M.M. in

magna cum laude in Piano Perfor-mance, certificate in Music Business,

Northwestern University. Most recently, she was the Dean of Programs and a piano faculty member at the Ann Arbor School for the Performing Arts (AASPA). Through her affiliation with AASPA, she taught private and group lessons, performed in faculty recitals and chamber music concerts, and accompanied both students and faculty members. She also taught at the University of Michigan’s Piano Pedagogy Laboratory Program from 2001-2004. In August 2005, she was on the piano faculty at the Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.

Linda O’BrienWMC faculty member since 2008. MA in music and BA with honors in piano performance and choral/general music from Ball State University. Piano study with Pia Sebastiani. A Nationally Certified Teacher of Music, and member of the National Guild of Piano Teachers Hall of Fame, Ms. O’Brien has been teaching piano to students of all ages for over 25 years. Active as a performer, accompanist, and adjudicator, she also teaches general music for the WMC Connections Program. Prior to moving to Milwaukee, Ms. O’Brien taught piano and served as college choir accompanist at UW-Sheboygan. She was also active in the SSO organization, playing piano and harpsichord in the orchestra and serving as accompanist for the Symphony Singers.

Jamie Breiwick, trumpetWCM faculty member since 2005. Jamie Brei-wick has been a mainstay on the Milwaukee jazz scene for over a decade. He has shared the stage with nationally recognized artists, including Carl Allen, Willie Pickens, George Braith, Rick Germanson, Dan Nimmer, Rob Wilkerson, Pete Zimmer, and John Sullivan. Ja-mie is also in demand as a freelance musician and has had the opportunity to perform and/or record with such internationally acclaimed acts as Eric Benet, Bob Newhart and the band Brazzaville (Barcelona). In addition to leading his own quintet, he performs regularly in and around Milwaukee with such groups as We Six (straight-ahead), Clamnation (original lat-in/funk), and De La Buena (latin jazz). Jamie’s music has been featured on Milwaukee’s 88.9 WMSE as well as on the nationally syndicated NPR broadcast Says You! Jamie holds a degree in music education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and has been the director of bands at Maple Dale School in Fox Point, WI since 2002. In addition to teaching middle school band, Jamie is the adjunct trumpet instruc-tor at Cardinal Stritch University and at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, positions he has held since 2005. His first CD released in 2006 Song To a Rose features some of the regions top call jazz musicians, including Curt Hanrahan (alto/tenor sax), Steve Einerson (piano), Joe Sanders (bass), and Sam Monroe (drums). Song to a Rose was featured as one of the top ten of 2008 by Paul J. Youngman of jazzreview.com. Jamie has a new CD entitled 5&6 just released in 2010.

Paul Silbergleit, guitar WCM faculty member since 1996 and a mem-ber of the Conservatory’s We Six jazz sextet. B.A., Oberlin College. An accomplished jazz composer as well as performer, Mr. Silbergleit has played clubs, concert halls and festivals throughout the area as both a leader and a sideman. He has appeared with Jack McDuff, Jon Faddis, Richie Cole, Melvin Rhyne, Brian Lynch, David Hazeltine, and the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, among others. Both his 1996 debut CD Silberglicity (on which other Conservatory faculty members are featured) and his 2003 release, My New Attitude, have made it onto the jazz charts with nationwide airplay, and he can also be heard on the 2005 We Six CD Bird Say. Mr. Silbergleit also teaches at Cardinal Stritch University.

Mark Davis, piano WCM faculty member since 1992. B.S., with honors, Skidmore College. Mr. Davis is Jazz Department Chair and a member of the Conservatory’s We Six. His WCM instructors included Adelaide Banaszynski and David Hazeltine. Later studies included work with jazz legend Barry Harris. He has performed with many jazz luminaries, including Jimmy Heath, Charles McPherson, Slide Hamp-ton, Brian Lynch, and Frank Morgan. He is also on the faculty of Wisconsin Lutheran College, Cardinal Stritch University and Alverno College. Mr. Davis can be heard on the We Six CD Bird Say.

Jeff Hamann, bassWCM faculty member since 1998. A member of the Conservatory’s We Six jazz sextet, Mr. Hamann attended the Wisconsin Conserva-

tory of Music, winning first place in the Jazz Studies Scholarship competition four years in a row. He has

worked as a clinician and jazz festival judge in the Milwaukee, Kenosha and

Waukesha public schools as well as at UW-Milwaukee,

UW-Madison and UW-Green Bay. Performing with such well-known art-ists as Frank Morgan, Marlena Shaw, Steve Allen, and Eric Alexander, he has toured throughout the Midwest and has appeared at Jazz Yantra in Bombay, India. Jeff is also the bassist on Michael Feldman’s Whad’Ya Know show, airing Saturdays on Wisconsin Public Radio and broadcast nationally on NPR stations. He can be heard on the 2005 We Six CD Bird Say.

David Bayles, drumsWCM faculty member since 1997. B.F.A. Music Education UW-Milwaukee. A member of the Conservatory’s We Six, Mr. Bayles has worked with such jazz artists as Slide Hampton, Barry Harris, David Hazeltine, Brian Lynch, Jack McDuff, Bob Mintzer, Frank Morgan, James Moody, Melvin Rhyne, and Ernie Watts. Dave performs at jazz clubs and music festivals throughout the Midwest. Recording credits include the Luis Diaz Quintet (On the Edge), the Curt Hanrahan Quintet (Hang Time), the Juli Wood Quintet (Movin’ and Groovin’) and the 2005 We Six CD Bird Say. Dave’s orchestral credits include timpani with the Rome Festival Orchestra and percussion with the Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra. As a clinician for Yamaha Music Corporation and Zildjian Cymbals, he travels and teaches widely throughout the U.S. and Canada. Dave also teaches percussion at UW-Parkside in Kenosha, WI.
