Farewell
We say farewell to Amy Phillips on
Tuesday as she has secured a
permanent job at Exmouth Primary
school. We thank her for her fun
lessons and for being a great
colleague. We wish her and her
family the very best for the future.
Welcome Back
After seeing Jodi Dawson at the gate
as a parent for the past 10 months,
it will be lovely to see her back in the
classroom and the staffroom as she
starts her return back to work. Jodi
will be teaching for a few mornings
after half term before her official
return to work in July.
Welcome Back 2

Rock Hunting
Lower Dart went on a rocking Rock
Hunt, yesterday afternoon. A big
thanks to Yvette, Pam & Emily for
coming to help us. In science we
have been looking at how rocks are
formed
and the
types of
rocks we
get on
our
planet
(igneous,
sedimentary & metamorphic) and
we decided to see what sort of rocks
we have in Widecombe. Mostly
granite obviously, but we were
surprised by the amount of other
types of rock that we found: slate,
marble, chalk – all being used in
very different ways.
We decided to ask lots of questions
about the rocks: Where is it?, What
is it used for? What colour is it? Is it
natural or man-made? Is it cut, cut
and polished or natural? Is it local
(granite) or
not local? Is
it naturally
there or has
it been put
there by
man? We had an exciting time, but
it was all cut short by a bit too much
rain! We will be analysing our results
next week, so watch this space!
