We thank her for her fun lessons and for being a great colleague. We wish her and her family the very best for the future. Welcome Back After seeing Jodi Dawson at the gate as a parent for the past 10 months, it will be lovely to see her back in the classroom and the staffroom as she starts her return back to work. Jodi will be teaching for a few mornings after half term before her official return to work in July. Welcome Back 2 We offer a warm welcome to Dan McKimm (one of our former teaching assistants) who will doing his teaching practice in Upper Dart for the next four weeks. Outdoor Learning Day Yesterday, we joined many other schools nationally in celebrating Outdoor Classroom Day. Upper Dart spent the whole morning in the playground making fantastic Rube Goldberg contraptions (make sure you have a look at the video on our website, Lower Dart went on a rock hunt in the village and Webburn had lots of fun on the bikes and trikes. A big thanks to Yvette, Pam & Emily for coming to help us. In science we have been looking at how rocks are formed and the types of rocks we get on our planet (igneous, sedimentary & metamorphic) and we decided to see what sort of rocks we have in Widecombe. Mostly granite obviously, but we were surprised by the amount of other types of rock that we found: slate, marble, chalk – all being used in very different ways. We decided to ask lots of questions about the rocks: Where is it?, What is it used for? What colour is it? Is it natural or man-made? Is it cut, cut and polished or natural? Is it local (granite) or not local? Is it naturally there or has it been put there by man? We had an exciting time, but it was all cut short by a bit too much rain! We will be analysing our results next week, so watch this space! Farewell

Lower Dart went on a rocking Rock

Hunt, yesterday afternoon. A big

thanks to Yvette, Pam & Emily for

coming to help us. In science we

have been looking at how rocks are

My Week by … Tawny It’s been really fun this morning doing

the marble run thing. We made it out of

junk model things and foam and stuff

and it was all across the playground.

The auditions were really fun and I’m

going to be Squawk the parrot in the

play.

The swimming pool was really nice this

week.

Summer Production

Now that SATs for KS1 and

KS2 are over it is time to get

into production mode! Our

summer production will be-

‘Pirates of the Curry Bean’.

The children are really

excited about the production

and have already started

learning their lines.

London Residential

A reminder that next Friday 26th May is the

deadline for final payments to be made via

ParentPay. Please also make sure you have

returned your child’s medical consent form for

this trip.

Sharing Afternoon

You are invited to visit your child’s class on

Thursday from 2.45pm, so that they can show

you what they have been learning this term.

Drama Club Cancelled

Please note there will be no Drama Club next

Wednesday.
