I based my first DVD design on the official Wilberforce 2007 website. I used the same colour scheme as the website and also used some of the images from the website. I used the picture of William Wilberforce and the slave poster. All the text on the design has been taken from the website so it is all accurate. The William Wilberforce 2007 logo is also branded on it. I decided to use the Arial font for the text.

I incorporated two images of my own to the DVD artwork of chains and old style slave handcuffs, which I have blended into the background on the back of the DVD Inlay. The old style handcuffs obviously show what the slaves where forced to wear and the chains are an iconic image to the slave trade. I also added some DVD content on the bottom of the inlay next to the barcode.

I kept the same colour scheme to keep up continuity through my designs. The cover has a picture of the crowd from the Wilberforce 2007 celebrations, which I amended in Photoshop and implemented onto the front of the cover. I used the Wilberforce 2007 Partnership text from the website on the back of the cover which is listed in bullet points.

The inside of the booklet is dedicated to explain the slavery situation between back then and what it is like today. Each explanation is clearly headed under Slavery Then & Slavery Now either side of the page. I have also incorporates a picture of a slave boat which used to be used to transport slaves from one country to another. I also added some random stats on adjacent boxes with drop shadow effects on them which makes them stand out.

I took the banner with the wording “Am I Not A Man And A Brother?” from an image I found on the internet. The thrase, along with the kneeling slave African, is an iconic and most identifiable image from the 18th century. I felt the banner with its slight curve went well with the round shape of the DVD. This with the image of the slave begging in his chains, and looking up at the picture of William Wilberforce, I feel is very moving.

My second design was based on an idea I thought up myself. I decided to try and illustrate how the two countries , Africa & America, as shown on the two Earths above, where merely joined together by the slave trade. I used a set of old fashioned slave handcuffs to join the two together. I also used the same DVD content at the bottom of the Inlay as I did for the previous design. I used exactly the same text content as the first design for this one. I decided to use the Felix Titling font for the text.

I kept the same design from the DVD inlay for the booklet cover. All I have done is removed the DVD text content from the bottom and kept on the Wilberforce logo. The borders on the top and bottom of the design are kept on throughout each design to maintain continuity.

I kept the space effect in the background for the DVD Booklet contents pages but took off the picture of the earths and the handcuffs. As with the other design, the text is exactly the same, and in this case layed out in the same format. I used a skew effect on the two titles.

I took the design from the DVD cover and used it on the DVD. I took the wording “Join the fight for freedom 1807 – 2007” and curved it round the bottom of the DVD design, the same as I did with the first designs wording.
