Palestine ISD celebrated TEXAS PUBLIC SCHOOLS WEEK with “Muffins for Mom”, “Donuts for Dad”, and a Health Fair at A.M. Story Intermediate. Students enjoyed these special visits from family members.
Congratulations to the Wildcat Basketball Team. The team played with heart all season and fought hard in a regional quarterfinal game against Mexia that ended in overtime with Palestine 78, Mexia 81. We are so proud of these young men.
Great things were happening at Texas State Technical College in Waco this past weekend. At the SkillsUSA Texas District 5 competition Palestine High School CTE – including Culinary Arts, Audio/Video Production, Robotics, Criminal Justice, and Cosmetology
took home a total of 50 medals! That’s more than any other school in District 5. One of our A/V Projects took Best in Show honors and we also had 2 District Officers elected.
Come out and support the PHS state ranked soccer teams tonight. Boys will play at 5:00 pm and the girls at 7:00 pm at Wildcat Stadium. The FC Dallas East Texas-Palestine Youth Soccer Team will play a 15 minute game during halftime. Fans will compete for prizes in a “Kick for Cash” event, and Dairy Queen and Mazzio’s coupons will be given to the first 500 fans.
Daylight savings time begins this weekend so be sure to set your clocks one hour ahead on Saturday evening, and try to work in an extra hour of sleep somewhere!

We have 8 seniors that played their final high school game last night. If you see them, please congratulate them on a job well done. I will miss this class more than any other senior class I have coached. I would also like to thank all the PISD staff that attended last night. The atmosphere was incredible. Scratch ‘em Cats!

We would like to have as many of you as possible come and show your support for both teams. In addition to the games, Mazzio and DQ coupons will be handed out upon entry. Also, there will be halftime contests at each game that gives you the chance of winning a gift certificate to Hibbets Sports. Our goal is to exceed 500 fans on Friday night. If we reach that goal, next week will be a spirit week for both students and faculty. Please encourage your students to come and support the teams as they prepare for their trip through the state playoffs! Let’s show our soccer athletes how much they mean to us! There were about 500 artworks at the judging of the Visual Arts Scholastic Event. From that group 30-40 were selected to go to State VASE. Ten of our students attended taking 17 artworks. Fourteen of the artworks received the highest rating and 4 were selected to be among the number going to State! Those who will be going are Shaina Coleman, Kelsey Hafner, Ana Roman, and Amilia Thomason. Please join me in congratulating these fine artists!

One of the many traditions at WECC is the birthday celebration for Dr. Theodor Seuss Geisel. Dr. Seuss has given us some of the most imaginative stories and characters ever. With the help of Librarian Victoria Campbell and all the staff, we had a great event. We made green eggs and ham, read lots of Dr. Seuss books, crafted some great hats, sang Happy Birthday! and ate cupcakes. What a wonderful celebration.
Quote by Dr. Seuss that will put a smile on your face: “There are so many things you can learn about, but you’ll miss the best things if you keep your eyes shut. The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you’ll go.”
Happy Birthday! Dr. Seuss
