Northside Robotics Showcase!

October 6th we had our first ESL night of the year. It was a great turnout. We enjoyed each other’s company and got to visit and give parents an account of their student’s progress, and get to know the parents of the children that are part of the program plus some great food! We will have another little get-together at the end of the semester. It was a wonderful way to get to know the parents and get them involved with the kids in school.

At WECC a positive PreK experience allows children the opportunity to explore and learn in an exciting and engaging way. Teachers often do this through small group activities and centers. However, another part of the day is important in bringing students together and allowing them to work and learn as a class. Whole group time or circle time, as it is referred to, allows the teachers to connect with all of the young learners at once and create an opportunity for children to support and accept one another. Whole group activities are carefully planned to incorporate student engagement.

Parent Meeting Character Counts Story parents were invited to “Character Counts” presented by Kristi

Evans, Counselor, on October 6 in the school library. Mrs. Evans wrote in the invitation: “The staff and students at Story believe that Character Education is as important as any other subject taught during the school day.  In order for a person to be successful in life and establish healthy relationships, he/she must have certain skills and character traits that are learned through direct instruction and through role models.” The parents in attendance were informed through power point and videos

what their children are learning at school about character and how they can help support this learning at home. Parents were encouraged to

share their own successes with other parents. TACE hosted the event, offering handouts and door prizes.
