    Wildlife Sanctuaries in UP:

    Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary:

    Marked with dense plush forests, Hastinapur Wildlife Sanctuary is one of the most popular

    sanctuaries of Uttar Pradesh. Spanning an area of 2073 kilometers, this sanctuary caught the eye in

    1986.

    Housing a splendid collection of all forms of flora and fauna, this sanctuary is situated in Meerut.

    The wildlife hosted by the sanctuary includes antelopes, cheetah, hyena, leopard, blue bull and wild

    cat.

    Chandra Prabha Wildlife Sanctuary:

    Located in the Eastern region of Uttar Pradesh, Chandra Prabha Wildlife Sanctuary is endowed with

    picturesque picnic spots and dense forests. The sparkling waterfalls like Devdari and Rajdari have

    been a major attraction for tourists around the globe. Established in 1957, the wildlife found in the

    sanctuary includes black bucks, wild board, cheetah, nilgai, python, porcupine and sambhar.

    Kaimoor Wildlife Sanctuary:

    Diffusing across 500 kilometers, the Kaimoor Wildlife Sanctuary is situated right at the place

    demarcating Uttar Pradesh from Bihar. The enchanting ambience of the sanctuary has always

    attracted tourists from across the world. Established in 1982, this sanctuary boasts a rich collection

    of different variety of trees like saal, sheesham teak, mahua, salai, jamun, koraiya and sidha.

    Pilibhit Tiger Reserve:

    Spanning across the Indo- Nepal border, at the foothills of the majestic Himalayas, the Pilibhit Tiger

    Reserve is one of Indias 41 Project Tiger Reserves. The reserve has a core area of 1089 square

    kilometers. Hosting atleast 36 tigers the authorities have ensured to maintain a good prey base for

    the tigers survival.

    Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary:

    Be ready to get mesmerized by the splendid collection of the Ranipur Wildlife Sanctuary. It is

    situated in the Banda District of Uttar Pradesh. One of the major attractions of the district, the

    wildlife found in the sanctuary is leopards, tigers, sloth bear, jungle fowl, spur fowl, chinkara and

    pea fowl. The most appropriate time to visit this sanctuary and enjoy to the fullest is from

    November to June.

    National Chambal Sanctuary:

    Also known as National Chambal Gharial Sanctuary, this sanctuary spans an area of 5400 square

    kilometers. It houses the critically endangered species of red crowned roof turtle, the small

    crocodiles (gharial) and the dolphins. Situated on the Chambal River, it is a tri- state protected area

    of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh. The Chambal River cuts across the sanctuary

    mesmerizing the spectator.

    Mahavir Swami Wildlife Sanctuary:

    Spreading over an area of 5.4 square kilometers, this sanctuary is just 125 kilometers from Jhansi.

    The residents of the sanctuary include leopards, sambhar, black buck, nilgai , langur, bear and

    monkeys. If you want to get enchanted by the beautiful scenic beauty of this sanctuary, the best

    time to make a visit is from November to April. The authorities will arrange for your accommodation

    in the comfortable forest guest house.

    Kachhua Sanctuary:

    Located in the sacred city Varanasi, this sanctuary houses the rarest of the rare species of tortoises

    like Sundari kachhua, Pechari, Kachhua Tonguka etc. It also houses Gangetic dolphins and other

    water animals. Spreading over an area of 7 kilometers, the sanctuary is easily accessible from

    Varanasi airport as well as via roads. The best time to visit the place is from October to June.

    Sohagi Barwa Sanctuary:

    One of the finest Tiger Reserves in Uttar Pradesh, the Sohagi Wildlife Sanctuary is situated in the

    Maharaganj District in Uttar Pradesh. Aklbeit majestic tigers are the main attraction of the place, but

    it also houses other fauna like leopards, wild cat, cheetals, bear and python.

    Vijai Sagar Sanctuary:

    Founded in 1990, Vijai Sagar Sanctuary is locate in the Mahoba district of Uttar Pradesh. It is very

    convienently located and is easily accessible from the Mahoba railway station and Mahoba bus

    stand. The main attractions of the sanctuary are beautiful jackals, wildcats and mongoose. Apart

    from these the 3 kilometer area is occupied by the various local flora and fauna of the place.

    Suhelva Wildlife Sanctuary:

    Situated in the Balrampur district of Uttar Pradesh, the Suhelva Wildlife Sanctuary will dazzle you

    with its amazing residents. The wildlife found in the sanctuary includes beautiful tigers and leopards.

    It also houses wild cats, wild boars and bears.

    Dhudhwa National Park:

    Diffused across a sprawling area of 490 square kilometers, The Dhudhwa National park is situated

    near the Indo- Nepal Border. The National park is also marked by the presence of the sacred river

    Suheli at its Southern end. Earlier it was a Tiger Reserve but in 1977 it acquired the status of a

    National Park. Get ready to be mesmerized by the amazing collection of wildlife at Dhudhwa. The

    residents include sambhar, cheetals, hog deers, swamp deer and the mighty rhinoceros.

    The Dhudhwa National park also houses the Kishanpur Wildlife Sanctuary.
