Wildwood Metropark, once a private 465 acre estate, was acquired by the Metropolitan Park District in the early 1970’s. The home and outbuildings had been long neglected and required extensive rehabilitation. The Manor House was renovated to become the Metropark’s administrative offices. The existing stable building was located in an ideal area to become the park’s Visitor Center. The Center houses offices for park staff, meeting rooms, and “Window on Wildlife” - an observation area for persons to observe feeding and other habits of wildlife.
