ear Delegates, I'm Giulia Romana Fazzini and I'm the Secretary General of IMUN Rome 2019! I'm in charge of all the administrative staff, who deals with the organization of the whole conference.

It's a pleasure for me to welcome you to this new experience! I'm honored to guide you all during these days. I took part at my first model several years ago. I was just a little girl, I was a bit scared, I did not know anyone, and I really didn't know what to expect. If I look back, this experience was the best of my life. When I first entered the committee, I didn't know how to move. I was thinking “Will I be able to do this? Am I as good as the others? Is my position strong enough?”. I looked at the other delegates and I just sat down. I was so shy. But I remember the moment when I finally took the courage to speak in front of all the delegates in my room. I did a great speech and I gave myself a chance! At the end, I was so proud of myself and I couldn't wait to challenge me another time! Doing IMUN gave me new skills as collaborating, understanding other positions, being able to speak in front of a big amount of people. I had the opportunity to meet new people and the chance to share my opinions in a different way. This exciting path, during these years, gave me the opportunity to use and improve skills related to organization and problem solving. I have to say that the most important thing IMUN gave me is personal and professional growth. I encourage all of you to live this experience at your best! Have fun discussing current serious issues, relating with different kind of people and most importantly: challenge yourself as many times as you can! I can't wait to see you all in action with your commitment, joy, and some excitement!

ear delegates,

our names are Chiara Erriquez and Tommaso Grillo and we serve as the Directors-General of IMUN 2019. Welcome to this new, marvelous adventure!

Over the past few months we have dealt with the supervision of the conference, from topics, to committees, to dais. Our main responsibility is to make sure that everything related to the content of the simulation works fine and smoothly. Our biggest desire is to witness your enthusiasm while debating: we honestly cannot wait to see you all acting as delegates!

Starting from last July, we have been working non-stop to grant you the best “IMUN” experience. Guided by our amazing team of Under Secretary Generals, your directors committed themselves to choosing stimulating topics, making sure you will be challenged during committee sessions. You will find yourselves leaving a classroom to enter a committee: from now on, you won’t be students anymore, you will only be delegates: make sure to strengthen your coalitions and write innovative resolutions (also, do not forget to make new friends along the way!).

When in high school, both of us took part in this incredible experience, challenging ourselves with public speaking and debates, discussing with other delegates and writing draft resolutions. What a surprise when we first raised our placard: we instantly became delegates, proud of our countries and spokespersons of beliefs different from ours.

As a past delegate ourselves, here is our greatest advice: weather you are shy or outgoing, be involved and make sure everyone within your committee is. You are asked to represent a single country, but your ultimate goal is to work as a group of nations cooperating to achieve the same goal. Raise your placard, defend your country and – most importantly - have fun!

The most precious lesson you will be given is that every opinion is equally important, no matter who you are or which country you represent; within a committee every single placard deserves to be seen. Don’t think to much and raise it with the ones of your fellow delegates!

Model United Nations are the best opportunity to gain broader perspectives and new attitudes. After this experience you will be more confident and more conscious of the world, we live in.

We can’t wait to see you debate and defend your Country, we are sure your resolutions will be great!

Feel free to contact us shall you have any questions regarding your topics, committees or your preparation, we will be more than happy to help you.

Love and good luck,

Chiara Erriquez & Tommaso Grillo Directors-General IMUN 2019 [email protected]
