This buoy is placed in fifteen feet of water on the outer edge of the reef, and should not be passed to the northward. A second-class iron can buoy, painted red, on the larger of the two Graham Shoals, lying 1£ nnlee S. I W. from point St. Ignace, M raits of Macinac. This Vuoy is placed in fourteen feet of water on the South side of the shoal. A thin 1 class iron can buoy, painted white, on the Little Graham shoal, lying J of a mile S., by E. from Point St. Ig- uace. Straits of Mackinac. This buoy is placed ou the south side of the shoal, in 12 iect of water. A first-class iron car. buoy, painted red, j ..n Racine Shoals. This buoy is located on 1 the inside of the reef, iu 17 feet of water; ; the oltl lighthouse tower bears from buoy j W. J S., and the Racinc lighthouse, on the • north pier, NV. by N. Horse Shoe Island bears S. by K. \ E A third-class iron can buoy, with red and black horizontal stripes, ou a detached shoal off Peninsula Point, the lighthouse on Peninsula Point 1><:.rs N. by E. J E. 2} miles distant, the buoy is set on the north side of the reef in thirteen feet of w ater, and about 300 yards from the shoalest 3pol (niuc feet). Vessels passing to the south ward should give it a good berth. A fourteen foot spar buoy, jiaintcd red, on the end oi the reef off Peninsula Point, the lighthouse on the Point bear S. N . ^ E., distant one mile. The buoy is placed in 12 feet of water. A fourteen foot spar buoy, painted blaek, off Sand Point. This buoy is placed in 11 feet of water; tho lighthouse ou the Point bears W. S. NV., distance one-half a mile from the buoy, and the iron docks bear west. N otb—All of the above bearings ar*: by compass, as observed from the deck of the lighthouse steamer. Vesskls Ashore.—A letter to the Mil waukee Sent hurl, from Mr. L. Ellsworth, of the tug Leviathan, dated June 18th, says : NVe have just returned from Point au Sable, where the schoouer C. A. King, of Milan, loaded with iron ore, ran ashore la*t evening, during thick weather. After jet tisoning one hundred tons ot ore we jerked her off. The vessel sustained no damages, aud is now 011 her way to Cleveland, all right. The bark Favorite, of (.'hicago, whither she is bound, ran on the southeast point of Bois Blanc Island about the same time, but was lightered off by throw ing overboard one bun Ire 1 and sixty bars of her cargo of rail road iron.
