EXPERIENCEOct 2009-Present

U.S. ARMY ENGINEER RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CENTER, CHAMPAIGN ILResearch Mechanical Engineer Focused on application research for renewable energy projects on Army installations,

having been published numerous times in publications including the Army Public Works Digest and presented at conferences and training symposia including GovEnergy, SOLTECH, the Army Energy Security and Independence Conference (2006) and the Energy Utility and Environment Conference (EUEC) in 2011 and 2012.

Demonstrating a patented High Efficiency Dehumidification System at Tinker AFB and Fort Bragg under the Environmental Security Technology Certification Program (ESTCP).

Implementing an energy feasibility analysis for the Information Technology Laboratory of the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center in Vicksburg, Mississippi.

Demonstrated a solar air to hot water integrated roofing system at Fort Meade, Maryland as a part of an (ESTCP) project.

Volunteered to be the Operational Energy Program Manager at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan from 13 April to 18 Sept 2013. While there led a team from the Department of Energy (two from Sandia National Laboratories and two from the National Renewable Energy Laboratory) plus other local operational energy managers to do a full baseline energy efficiency and energy security survey of Bagram Airfield which has about 10 million SF of buildings and a population (at that time) of 31,000. This is the third busiest single runway airfield in the world.

Volunteered to be the Operational Energy Manager at Bagram Airfield, Afghanistan from 26 May to 4 Nov 2012. While there developed $25M in projects that would save $50 annually in energy costs. Projects included advanced ceramic insulations, lighting, vestibules, solar air to hot water systems, mobile Photovoltaic powered light carts, and waste oil heaters. Calculated the total cost of annual energy at $286.6M.

Conducted a two week (23 Apr to 5 May 2011) field survey in Afghanistan for various options for efficiency and renewable energy for the Afghanistan National Security University (ANSU). The energy efficiency technologies included lighting, insulation and windows. The renewable energy technologies included Photovoltaics, solar domestic hot water, solar air transpired collectors (Solarwall), daylighting, wind

ENERGY & WATER MANAGEMENT OFFICE, FORT HUACHUCA, AZEnergy Coordinator & Utilities Sales Officer Lead Fort Huachuca to meet or exceed the energy reduction goals for 15 straight years

(FY93-FY07). Involved in the development of an Energy Savings Performance Contract that included

both conventional energy efficiency measures and renewable energy systems to include daylighting, transpired air solar collectors, repair of a grid connected PhotoVoltaic (PV) system and advanced solar reflective ceramic insulations.

Responsible for installation and repair of multiple renewable systems including a 5 kW three phase grid connected PV system, a 10 kW wind turbine, and 450 day-lighting units in 23 buildings.

Successfully reduced water consumption by 70% from FY 93 to FY 08. Led Fort Huachuca to receive multiple water, energy efficiency and renewable energy

awards (four Army, eight Federal, and two Presidential energy). Was the Fort Huachuca representative on the Southeast Arizona electrical transmission

capacity study. Conducted a wind study that culminated in a project to install a 1 MW wind turbine.
