College for Working AdultsYour Path to Success

ADULT LEARNERSWilliam Penn recognizes the need for alternatives to a traditional classroom setting. Adult learners have work, family and other daily obligations that compete for their valuable time. In addition, adult learners also bring a vast amount of knowledge and work experience to the table. CWA has designed its curriculum to support this learner of the new millennium, accommodating the need for convenience while offering a forum for professional networking opportunities. It is precisely this blend of flexibility, instruction and interaction that makes CWA an optimal format for working adults to advance their careers.

SIMPLE REGISTRATIONCWA begins with convenience. After you have mapped out a plan for degree completion with your academic advisor, you register for your entire program - once. You are then effectively pre-registered for all courses until you graduate. No need to sign up for classes again and again. Most adult learners find this system to be of exceptional convenience.

USER-FRIENDLY FORMATWith a constant focus on convenience for the adult learner, CWA courses are delivered back-to-back, not by semester, which keeps your degree program progressing continually, allowing you to maintain focus and routine. Classes meet one evening per week, most lasting only five weeks (undergraduate program) or six weeks (graduate program), with convenient on-site and online courses available. Enrollment is frequent and year-round, so you can begin a program when it’s right for you.

SMALL CLASS SIZECWA’s low student-to-faculty ratio is more than just a number. At approximately 15 students per class - an ideal size for learning and interaction - you will receive optimal personal attention from faculty and fellow students. The curriculum emphasizes leadership, writing, speaking and critical thinking, which are the skills employers look for in potential job candidates. These skills are all more quickly attainable in smaller classes.

LEARNING TEAMSAn integral part of the CWA educational model is learning teams. Each learning team is composed of three to five students who meet weekly outside of class, either face-to-face or online, and function as project teams that become efficient problem-solvers through the shared expertise of their peers. This team-based format not only acts as a catalyst for learning and social support, but also as a built-in network of professional contacts. CWA is committed to the learning team approach because it reinforces the skills that employers consistently request: the ability of employees to function in teams as a necessity in the workplace.

PROFESSIONAL FACULTYCWA’s faculty members are practitioners in their respective fields, providing a practical approach to academic concepts. Students benefit from a balance of theoretical background and interactive learning activities such as discussions, simulations, case analysis, as well as individual and team projects. In addition to bringing years of expertise and real-world experience to the classroom, the faculty also serves as mentors and consultants guiding students to more successful outcomes in their career endeavors.
