He was able to learn lots of languages.

He could read and speak….

The Bible• People in England did not have bibles in

english to read.

• So the only way they could learn God’s word was by hearing it.

• But this was what it was like in church….

• The priests and church leaders didn’t want the normal people to be able to read the bible for themselves.

• William Tyndale said to them…..

“I will cause a ploughboy to know more of the scriptures than you do !”

And he DID !

• He fled the country because the authorities wanted him dead.

• He translated the New Testament into english (later the whole Bible).

• He organised thousands of Bibles to be smuggled back into England.

• He was betrayed, captured and put to death for his faith in 1536.
