From My Heart
2010 has gotten off to a pretty good start for us as a church family!
God has been working in the lives of a
number of young boys, who in the worship services or personally, have told me of their acknowledging Jesus Christ as their Savior. I look forward to them following the Lord in baptism in due time.
Another new couple has joined our church by transferring their
membership from a sister church.
Two young ladies indicated publicly that they wanted to mature in
their faith.
Attendance is up in all Sunday events.
The response for the call to provide shoes for Haiti overflowed the
two large boxes provided.
We are dollars away from going over our Lottie Moon Offering for
International Missions.
Bible drills for children and youth are up and running on Sunday
nights.
The Staff Search Committee is up and running. During the business meetings this group will be making a monthly report to the church. Continue to pray for their task.
On Sunday nights, from the book of Judges, we are looking at people who made a difference in their day and are being challenged to make a difference in our day. My prayer and focus this year is that individually and collectively, we will be Difference Makers. For several years, our nation has been moving away from the historic Christian faith that has made her so great. I shutter to think what the future holds if we don’t have a great spiritual awakening. Our nation has experienced four great awakenings, and I believe it is time for a fifth awakening. Glad to be your pastor,
Inclement Weather Plan: Silver Springs will strive to
meet every appointed time.
However, when services must be
altered, please call the church office for
a recorded message, (758-7853). If
services are as scheduled please use
your good judgment concerning your
attendance. We will notify the local TV
stations of changes. You may check the Silver Springs
website: www.silverspringsbaptist.com.

We are looking for churches in the WCBA that would like to participate in a mission trip to Lambrama, Peru. Immanuel Baptist Church is working with the REAP organization on a five year plan (see purpose below) to help bring the gospel to the people of Lambrama, Peru. We have five dates this year that we need volunteers. They are: April 9-18, June 4-13, August 7-15, September 10-19, and November 6-14. Purpose: Working with and equipping someone in the community of Lambrama to start Bible studies. We would also be an encouragement to the community as they grow in their knowledge and wisdom of Jesus Christ. Our goal is to see this community grow in their Christian walk as they develop a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. A few facts about Lambrama:
Population: ~5,000 in the entire district—350 in the village
Only Church Building: Catholic—open for festivals (building is empty).
Priest “might” come twice a year. Note: There is an Evangelical “church” (meets in a house) located 15-30 minutes away (up the mountain on a dirt road).
Very rural, farming community
Driving time from Cusco: 6-7 hours (Cusco is 1.25 hours flying time
from Lima)
Elevation: 9,750 feet
Terrain is very hilly and steep—lots of walking
Closest city to Lambrama, Abancay, which is 2-4 hours away
(depending on road conditions)
Schools: initial, primary, secondary and state run kindergarten
There is a police station, medical clinic, and mayor located in the
village
Minimal housing and restaurants available
Please contact Ted Wolfer via email at [email protected] for more information about going to Peru.

If you are looking for something to cure boredom in your life, Silver Springs' Student Ministry is the place for you. Hot off an all night event, now is not the time to slow down. February brings a True Love Waits Rally on the 12 and 13 at Circus World in Hendersonville and Winter Jam on February 21. Youth Evangelism Conference (YEC) is right around the corner on March 5 and 6. I want to thank all the parents/guardians that attended our Student/Parent Luncheon. I have had wonderful support from each of you. My goal is to launch our new Student Ministry Model, no later than March 1. Please keep watching the website for up-to-date times and detailed information. I would still ask you to encourage your students to sign-up early for events and get their money in ASAP. It's truly a pleasure to join you in raising GODLY students. My prayers are with you. GO GOD! Tim

Children’s Ministry Day February 20, 2010 - Join the Home Team - Silver Springs Baptist Church
The children will be engaged in missions and move into their communities to minister through missions action and witness. We anticipate that many lives will be impacted as children reach out in their communities with the love of Jesus. While this special day of ministry focuses on involving children in hands-on ministry in their communities, SSBC is encouraged to participate. Please participate in one or all of the following ways: 1. Pray - Ask God to bless this project so that it will glorify Him and
further His kingdom. Pray for the children and adults who will participate in the project. Pray for those to whom you will minister.
2. Volunteer - Contact Kayla Wood to learn of the opportunity and where you can get plugged in.
3. Donate - Cases of water, paper towels, and cleaning supplies will be collected and donated to Habitat for Humanity of Wilson County. A variety of gift cards, such as: iTunes, Kroger or Publix, Wal-Mart, bookstores or music stores, coffees, cocoas and tea, snacks, calendars, and hygiene items will be collected and donated to International Students of Cumberland University. Please bring your donations to Kayla Wood by February 19, 2010.
4. Celebrate - Let’s meet and network on the afternoon of February 20, 2010, at Fairview Baptist Church, 1660 Leeville Pike in Lebanon for the Wilson County Baptist Association Celebration of Children’s Ministry Day. This event is designed for you to come and go as you need to between 1 p.m. - 3 p.m. There will be light snacks for you to enjoy. You will want to network and see what resources you can benefit from to accomplish your goals and enhance your relationship with Jesus in 2010. There will be resources to show you how to provide options to add interest and excitement to your ministries for the glory of God’s kingdom and spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.
Contact Kayla Wood at [email protected] or 615-804-2941 for more information.
Just a Note from Mrs. Joyce….
I hope this newsletter finds you and your family doing well. There has been so much sickness this past few weeks that I don’t know of many families who haven’t been affected with one sort of bug or another. Maybe February will show us some love and the hope of all of us getting well soon! February is the beginning of a year of several great family and children’s events being planned! My focus this year is leaning toward being able to focus on our family units, which will in turn be a good thing for our preschool and children’s ministry. Our homes are the most important place on earth and I believe the church has a great opportunity, and responsibility, to help families see and know that making Christ number one in our homes can, and will, make all the difference in the world in our home life. What better thing can we offer our children than for them to grow up in a loving, Christ-centered home?
In the new church directory that is being prepared (and on the large hallway bulletin board) you will find a calendar of events for preschoolers, children and their families. Please look at these events and try to make them a priority in your family schedule. My hope is that these will be great times of growing together and enjoying one another. It’s a great time to invite other families in your neighborhood, or at work, to be a part of a Christian fellowship. On Sunday, February 28 we’ll have a potluck Sunday Lunch for all families with preschoolers and children and the leaders who work with them at Silver Springs. Lunch will be at 12:15 in the fellowship hall.
Beginning Wednesday evening, March 3, I will be leading a parenting class at 6:30 for several weeks. This is open to any and all parents (no matter the age of your child or teen), grandparents, guardians, and leaders who work with children. When our little ones are born they don’t come with an owner’s manual, so it is helpful when we can get together and share with others who are, or were, in the same boat of rais ing children. No one person, or parenting book, has all the answers…but come join us as we look at ways to be the best parents we can be for the children God placed in our care.
