LEAN PROJECTS
Helped to streamline Histology process. The goal in this project was to increase throughput of slides to 80% out by 7am. The goal was successful and the team was able to eliminate waste within the process.
Streamlining Pathology Distribution – The goal of this project was to remove waste from the process known for the Distribution Team in Histology. The goal was to get 60% of the material out by 7am, 80% out by 8:30 and 100% out by 9:30 to all the pathologists on the east and west side. We were able to move the team in the right direction but still struggled to meet the 80% of material out by 7. It was highlighted at that time that all material was making it out of the area to doctors, but Histology had not given enough work to make 80% goal. A new procedure was written and continues to change as needed.
Lean Certification Project – Concierge Pharmacy
The goal of this team was to create a process that would allow the Concierge Pharmacy to give the discharging patients of Portland Medical Center their medication before leaving the hospital. The project was successful due to the right infrastructure and support. My job was to lead the team in exercises’ that would give them the proper tools to make changes successfully in their
department. The other job I was given was to guide the team in writing a procedure that outlined the process. The program is still going strong today and is expanding to the Providence St. Vincent location.
