Cyprus packs a remarkable array of sights and attractions into such a small space: museums and archaeological sites, throbbing beach resorts, medieval fortresses, age-old temples and Cool Mountain. Its remarkably rich legacy in archaeological treasures and developed tourism infrastructure make Cyprus one of the most attractive meeting places of the world.
Larnaca
Larnaca, is the third largest city on the southern coast of
Cyprus after Nicosia and Limassol. It has a population of 143,367 and is the island's
second largest commercial port and an important tourist resort. The island's
largest airport, Larnaca International Airport is located on the outskirts of the city to
the south. The city of Larnaca is well known for its
picturesqueseafront, which includes rows of palm trees.
Larnaca Marina is one of the four official entry points, by sea, to Cyprus.
The city has valuable sites such as the ruin of Ancient Kitium, the Church of Lazarus, the Hala Sultan Tekke, and the Old Aqueduct known as "The Kamares" or even the Salt Lake close to the Airport with the flamingoes. Larnaca combines historic and cultural treasures, with modern galleries and museums, theatres and night life that can make it an attractive destination for locals and tourists. It hosts an important festival, Kataklysmos or the Festival of the Flood, celebrated in early summer with a series of cultural events.
