SIMATIC® WinCC® offers complete SCADA functionality under Win-dows 2000/XP for all branches of industry – from simple single-user systems to distributed multi-user ones with redundant servers and cross-site solutions using Web clients. WinCC is the information exchange for cross-company, verti-cal integration.

The WinCC basic software is the core of a large number of different applications. Based on the open programming interfaces, a number of WinCC options (by Siemens A&D) have been developed as well as WinCC add-ons (by Siemens-internal and external partners).

... and new perspectives

At the same time, the new version is also a powerful platform for IT and business integration. This is because SIMATIC WinCC V6.0

• is consistently scaleable,

• has enhanced Web technology,

• has an integrated Historian with evaluation options,

• supports new open standards and

• offers a wide range of options for integration.

SIMATIC WinCC Version 6.0Innovation and Continuity

One of the particularly impressive things about SIMATIC WinCC right from the start was on the one hand the high level of innovativeness, which makes it possible to recognize coming trends at an early stage and to implement them; on the other hand, the long-term product strategy based on standards guarantees your invest-ment.

Thanks to this approach, WinCC has advanced to become the industrial standard and market leader in Europe. WinCC is always the rst choice when you want to run plant and machinery on an optimum basis: that is to say to increase availability and productivity.

Increased functionality ...

There is no question that you will always benet even if you are already using WinCC V5 and decide to use WinCC V6 with your new projects! Because for process visualization, the new Version 6.0 offers you better per-formance, more exibility and ef-

ciency for your applications and the future-proof capability that you are familiar with due to the use of new standards:

• Signicantly increased performance and performance proles at process data archiving (measured values and messages) due to the new archive system based on Microsoft SQL Server 2000

• Integrated long-term data archiving with high levels of data compression and integrated export (backup) func-tion

• Simple conguration of runtime scripts using VBScript (Visual Basic Scripting – with user-friendly debug-ging and openness for accessing third-party applications)

• Individual customizing of the Graphics Designer through to automation of conguration using Visual Basic for Applications

• The Report system has been inno-vated from the ground up – with

SIMATIC WinCC

• Can be used on an universal basis

WinCC was designed right from the start to be deployed on an interna-tional basis: you can switch the con-guration interface to any one of ve different languages (German, English, French, Spanish or Italian) – apart from this, an Asian WinCC variant is available that includes four Asian conguration languages. You can design your project for up to 34 target languages, which allows you to launch the same application on several target mar-kets.

The base system is designed on a technology- and industry-indepen-dent basis. References from virtu-ally all applications and branches of industry in plant and mechanical engineering prove this: including the chemical and pharmaceutical industries for which WinCC with appropriate options meets the requirements of FDA 21 CFR Part 11.

• All SCADA functions on-board

Appropriate SCADA functions are basic features of the system – for visualizing process sequences and status conditions on a fully graphical basis, for reporting and acknowledging events, for archi-ving measured values and mes-sages, for logging process and archive data and for managing users and their access permissions. The system continuously records sequences and events that are rel-evant to quality which makes it pos-sible to verify quality on a contigu-ous basis.

• Easy and efcient to congure

Sophisticated conguration func-tions drastically reduce the time and effort needed for engineering and training: a user-friendly, object-

oriented graphics editor, compre-hensive libraries, modular technol-ogy, fast changes due to online conguration, conguration tool for handling bulk data, transparency due to cross-reference list.

• Absolutely open and extensible in a modular way

WinCC is consistently based on the highest levels of openness and the highest integration capa-bility: ActiveX controls for tech-nology-specic and vertical market extensions, non-proprietary process communication via OPC (OLE for Process Control), standard inter-faces for external accesses to the database, integrated standard script language, access to data and system functions via the Applica-tion Programming Interface using the Open Development Kit, ODK.

• Part of Totally Integrated Automation

TIA allows you to completely inte-grate individual automation com-ponents, which allows you to reduce your engineering and life-cycle costs by up to 50% . This means that WinCC, for example, accesses directly the tag and alarm conguration system of your SIMATIC controller and uses its communications parameters. Right from the start, this allows you to avoid time-consuming and expen-sive multiple inputs and exclude possible sources of errors. Another TIA system feature is its integrated diagnostics. Interacting with other SIMATIC components, WinCC sup-ports system and process diag-nostics in ongoing operation.

SIMATIC WinCC Version 6.0Consistently scaleable – can be extended at any time

Scalability has always been a trade-mark of SIMATIC WinCC. One of the new features of Version 6 is that this scalability is now consistent from a sin-gle-user solution with 128 PowerTags to a client/server solution with an inte-grated historian and operator stations on the Web.

Depending on the size of the project you want to implement, the following runtime (RT) and complete (RC) sys-tems are available:

• 128, 256, 1024, 8K (new) and 64k PowerTags

You can upgrade the number of tags on a cost-neutral basis using power packs, i.e. you can start up at the favorably priced entry level and then step up at a later date and still not pay more than you would have done in the rst place for the higher level solution.

Globalization and tougher competition make it necessary to have a consistent ow of information across all levels of the companies and all sites. In this connection, scaleable client/server solutions in conjunction with IT inte-gration give you a rapid overview and form the basis of consistent process optimization in the plant and the com-pany.

The server option allows you to set up coordinated operator stations from single-user systems at any time. Con-sistent scalability now using up to 12 WinCC servers and 32 WinCC clients per server knows now limits, since you can also congure WinCC clients as central Web servers with a view of all the server projects in the plant (see page 5).

If required, you can also congure these servers as a distributed system. Distributing the complete application or the tasks to several servers makes possible a much higher performance prole, takes the load off the indi-vidual servers and ensures good per-

formance. Distribution also takes into account the topology of a plant.

The complete view of the plant is implemented using WinCC (SCADA) clients that have access to or a view of the pictures and data of different server projects at the same time. It is even possible to use clients for online conguration. You can cong-ure a common message and trend view of the archives of different serv-ers for these clients. Operator stations are also possible in the form of Web clients (see also page 5). In heteroge-neous congurations with SCADA and Web clients, this yields, amongst other things, the following performance prole limits (variations are possible):

• 50 WinCC Web clients and one WinCC SCADA engineering client, or

• 32 WinCC SCADA clients and three WinCC Web clients

The Historian is also scaleable with regard to the performance prole and the plant conguration (e.g. as a standalone server).

When you have high availability requirements (minimizing non-produc-tive time), WinCC also provides the right concepts:

• Redundant server with the WinCC/Redundancy option

• Redundant process communication

Consistently scaleable, from a single-user system to a client/server solution

SIMATIC WinCC Version 6.0 Enhanced Web technology – more information and security

SCADA clients as a Web server for different clients on the Web

WinCC/Web Navigator supports full Operation and Monitoring via the Web – without needing to make changes to the project. In Version 6.0, you can set up a Web server on any SCADA client. This means that a Web client that is connected to the Web server can access the projects of all the (re-dundant) WinCC servers (up to 12) in a plant from anywhere in the world. If you start multiple instances of the browser on the Web client, this makes it possible to view several plants – several Web servers – at the same time.

At the same time, separating the WinCC server and the Web server pro-vides more security and availability that you can increase even further by using separate Web servers on two independent SCADA clients. User management of the Web operator sta-tions is included in the data stock of the plant on-site. Different user access levels regulate the access rights that different people have. In addition, the system of course sup-ports common security mechanisms like routers, rewalls, proxy servers, SSL encryption and VPN technologies.

As previously, server-based licensing

with 3, 10, 25 and 50 licenses allows as many Web clients as you like, up to 50 of which can be active at the same time. A special diagnostics client license allows access at any time, which can be important for mainte-nance and servicing in particular.

With Thin Client solutions, you can also link robust local units (e.g. SIMA-TIC MP370 with the Thin Client MP option) and mobile clients Personal Digital Assistants (PDAs) under Win-dows CE. Solutions of this type make minimal requirements of the hard-ware, since the application itself runs on the terminal server.

Further signicant enhancements in WinCC V6:

• Access to user archives (WinCC User Archives)

• Simple print function on the Web client

• Five-language conguration envi-ronment

• VBScript including debugging

• Zooming and decluttering at run-time

• Supporting GIF and JPEG graphics format

• Navigation interface and download mechanism for integrating addi-tional user-specic Web components

SIMATIC WinCC Version 6.0Historian in the basic system – archive and information exchange

Historian based on WinCC - Process data archiving and information exchange

For the rst time, WinCC Version 6 integrates a powerful, scaleable Histo-rian based on Microsoft‘s SQL Server 2000 in the basic system. This offers users a wealth of options ranging from high-performance archiving of current process data and events, through long-term archiving with high levels of data compression and backup func-tion, up to a central information exchange in the form of a cross-com-pany Historian server.

Archiving ...

• Archiving process data

• Compression and backup archives

• Application as a central (redundant) archive server

The new Historian archives process data and events in the form of process values, alarms and user archives with high levels of performance at up to 10,000 measured values and 100 messages per second. The efcient compression functions mean that the memory requirement is very low. You can export completed individual archives (e.g. a weekly archive) to the long-term archive server (backup server).

Up to 11 WinCC servers, remote OPC DA servers or remote databases as well as direct I/O access via the WinCC Data Manager are used as the data sources. If you have high availability require-ments, you can set up consistently redundant solutions using redundant WinCC, archive and backup servers.

In the basic WinCC system, you can congure 512 archive variables. Powerpacks allow you to increase this number to up to 80,000 tags.

... and evaluation

You can display the data from the WinCC archives (Historian) via the WinCC process pictures using the inte-grated WinCC Trend Control or WinCC

Alarm Control, or you can use special tools with WinCC options (e.g. WinCC/Dat@Monitor, Historical Data Display with SIMATIC IT PPA) and WinCC add-ons (PM Analyze).

This means that a large number of dif-ferent clients are available for evalua-tions:

• WinCC SCADA clients for Operating & Monitoring (and Engineering)

• WinCC Web clients with full O & M functionality via the Web

• WinCC/Dat@Monitor clients (for cur-rent process views and statistics using MS Excel)

• Analyze clients for determining opti-mization potential

• Any client application accessing online and historical data (e.g. via OPC or OLE DB)

Integration potential

Open database interfaces (ADO, OLE DB, ODBC, SQL), programming inter-faces (VBScript and ANSI-C with access to the COM object model and API func-tions) and various options are the basis of exible and efcient IT and business integration.

SIMATIC WinCC Version 6.0 Optimized for IT & Business Integration

IT & Business Integration - horizontal and vertical integration

Every company needs to represent complex business processes in an ade-quate software model to achieve opti-mum productivity and quality. The Term IT & Business Integration descri-bes exactly the way to horizontal and vertical integration of processes in a company by distributing information with different content between the IT solutions that are used in various areas.

Horizontal and vertical integration

These can include applications from the elds of ERP (Enterprise Resource Planning: Finance and Order Manage-ment, Logistics), MES (Manufacturing Execution System: Production Mana-gement with Track & Trace, Perfor-mance Analysis and Optimization, Maintenance, Document Manage-ment, LIMS and Quality Management) and Controls (Automation: Visualiza-tion, Control).

In this connection, the ow of infor-mation must not just be possible hori-zontally on the individual levels but also vertically across levels. It conti-nues in companies involved in prepro-cessing and further-processing such as automobile component suppliers, for example (Supply Chain Management).

The crucial factor that inuences how easily and quickly you can implement

consistent IT and Business Integration in a company is an application lands-cape that supports this goal by means of

• uniform data storage,

• integrated standard interfaces

• and consistent handling of all the data.

For solutions of this type to meet the company‘s future requirements, it is especially important to be able to easily extend and scale this solution.

Version 6 of WinCC meets all these requirements:

• Microsoft SQL Server 2000 standard database as the central, cross-company Historian and information exchange

• Designed for use in an industrial environment (throughput, perfor-mance proles, redundancy)

• Long-term archiving with data com-pression and backup mechanisms

• Support for different, scaleable congurations

• Evaluation options using different clients and tools

• Simple integration in cross-company applications due to open interfaces

In addition to a database-based solu-tion approach, SIMATIC WinCC inte-grates into the SIMATIC IT Framework that represents a exible and powerful integration platform on the basis of a framework. Via an adapter, SIMATIC WinCC is integrated as a SCADA system and a connection to the auto-mation level and, being a basic com-ponent of the SIMATIC IT Historian, serves a central Enterprise Historian.

7

WinCC/Dat@Monitor – Visualizing processes and analyzing data

WinCC/Dat@Monitor Web Edition is for displaying and evaluating current pro-cess status conditions and historical data on any ofce PCs using Inter-net-capable standard tools like Micro-soft‘s Internet Explorer or Microsoft Excel. In this connection, a Web Navi-gator server supplies the Dat@Monitor client with current and historical pro-cess data.

You can use the pictures from the WinCC project for display or congure special overview pictures. In this con-nection, Dat@Monitor has a purely display function, intervening in local process activities is not possible (and not sensible either). The evaluation options are much more important. On the one hand, users can store on a central basis their own templates for special analyses of the company pro-cesses, administer them and use them on a common basis (e.g. reports, sta-tistics); or on the other hand, group historical data individually and online on an ad hoc basis.

A suite of tools

WinCC/Dat@Monitor offers you a range of Internet-capable tools for visualization and evaluation that all support common security mechanisms like Login/Password, rewalls, encryp-tion, etc.:

• Dat@Symphony – is for monitoring and navigating via WinCC pictures using Microsoft‘s Internet Explorer (view only)

• Dat@Workbook – is a reporting tool that integrates archive data and current process values from WinCC in Microsoft Excel, which therefore supports online analyses

• Dat@View Internet Explorer-based display tool for WinCC archive data (including exported data) via tables and curves

Visualizing and analyzing using WinCC/Dat@Monitor

Your choice of licensing

In a similar way to the Web client, licensing is server-based, i.e. it is car-ried out on the Web Navigator server. Depending on the license you choose, 3, 10, 25 or 50 clients can be active at the same time. In this connection, Web clients and Data@Monitor clients are dealt with in the same way; however, both of them need separate licenses. You can use any combination you like of the individual tools; as usual, the system only takes into account the number of accesses to a web server at the same time.

WinCC/Connectivity Pack – Access to WinCC archives via OPC & OLE-DB

In WinCC, non-proprietary commu-nication in the eld of automation has always been very important. On the one hand, WinCC has an inte-grated OPC DA 2.0 server (DA = Data Access), that gives access to all the online values in the system; on the other, it makes available open interfaces for accessing the Historian (WinCC archive data). This means that the system can transfer pre-processed process and production data to higher level systems for information condi-tioning (e.g. Manufacturing Execution Systems, Enterprise Resource Planning systems or ofce packages, e.g. Micro-soft Excel, Microsoft Access, etc.)

The WinCC/Connectivity Pack includes the OPC HDA 1.0 (Historical Data Access) and OPC A&E 1.0 (Alarm & Events) servers for accessing historical data of the WinCC archive system or

SIMATIC WinCC Version 6.0New options – for IT and Business Integration

WinCC/IndustrialDataBridge – Linking to databases and IT systems

WinCC/IndustrialDataBridge – Linking to databases and IT systems

WinCC/IndustrialDataBridge uses stan-dard interfaces to link the automation level (controls) to the IT world and to ensure a ow of information in both directions. Examples of these types of interfaces include OPC in the eld of automation and SQL databases in the IT world. You can integrate sys-tems made by different manufacturers using a large number of different standard interfaces (amongst others OPC, SQL, OLE-DB, ofce formats). You carry out conguration (without programming) on a favorably priced basis using a standard software pack-age. Typically, WinCC with its OPC DA server interface is the data source and an external database is the data desti-nation.

Depending on the volume of data, licenses are offered with 128, 512, 2k and 10K tags.

Flexible switch between applications

IndustrialDataBridge makes a connec-tion between the source and destina-tion interface and transfers the data as follows

• depending on a change in value,

• after a congurable time has expired

• or if a specic event occurs.

Data is exchanged between auto-mation systems made by different manufacturers via IndustrialData-Bridge, for example via OPC. Connecting OPC servers via the Indus-trialDataBridge makes possible com-munication between different devices, data sources and destinations.

In a similar way to the Connectivity Pack if you want to access WinCC data via IndustrialDataBridge, you need a Client Access License for each client computer on which no WinCC license is installed (basic software or Web Navigator/Dat@Monitor).

9

for transferring/acknowledging mes-sages. OLE-DB makes it possible to directly access the archive data that WinCC stored in the Microsoft SQL Server database.

As an HDA server WinCC makes avail-able historical data from the WinCC archive system to other applications. The OPC client (e.g. a reporting tool) can specify the start and end times of a time interval and thus selectively request the data to be transferred. Apart from this, the client can request already conditioned data from the HDA server, i.e. actively trigger data compression before the data is trans-ferred.

In OPC A&E, the system displays a WinCC message as an alarm and, together with all the ancillary process values, passes it on to any subscribers on the production or company man-agement levels. Due to the lter mech-anisms and subscriptions, the system only transfers selected, changed data. It is, of course, also possible to carry out acknowledgement at the MES or ERP level.

Client Access Licenses (CAL)

The WinCC/Client Access License option allows you to access or further-process your WinCC archive data from the Microsoft SQL server database on any one client computer. WinCC/CAL allows access via the interfaces of the Connectivity Pack (OLE-DB, OPC HDA, OPC A&E). SIMATIC WinCC and the Web Navigator and Dat@Monitor option packages already include Client Access Licenses which means that they can already access the WinCC data-base, whereas this license is available as a separate product for other appli-cations.

SIMATIC WinCC Version 6.0New options ― for FDA 21 CFR Part 11 compliant applications

Highlights to your benet

• Easy conguration of Audit Trails (operator inputs) - can be used for conguration and at runtime (Runtime)

• Central, cross-plant user manage-ment, integrated in Windows User Management

• High levels of security due to measures on both the administra-tor and user sides

• Can be used in different congu-rations

• Signing of data records on a for-gery-proof basis

Best t for pharmaceuticals and food industries

Using version V5.1 and the Advanced User Administrator option in conjunc-tion with appropriate measures at engineering – which are documented in a white paper – SIMATIC WinCC already complies with the require-ments of FDA 21 CFR Part 11 in the pharmaceuticals and food industries (FDA = Food and Drug Administration).

The new options for WinCC version 6.0 however make it considerably easier to validate plants and this provides the most convincing and comprehensive response to the requirements in these branches of industry.

WinCC/Audit – Creating and man-aging audit trails

WinCC/Audit allows you to easily con-gure an Audit Trail of operator inputs. In this connection, you can use any user interface elements you like and, if desired, also require operators to enter a comment.

By contrast with conventional congu-ration of operator messages, it is also possible to make the necessary set-tings for the Audit Trail at a later date:

even after the WinCC project has been concluded.

You can use Audit Trail both for revi-sion tracking in engineering (“What changes have been made to the proj-ect?”) as well as at runtime of the WinCC application (Who made what operator inputs and when?“). This completely complies with the FDA requirements. Apart from this, Audit in engineering supports project version-ing with document management. The audit trail is stored on a forgery-proof basis in the archive (Historian).

SIMATIC Logon – Central, plant-wide user management

User management with SIMATIC Logon integrates itself in the safety system and user management of Win-dows and in this way meets the FDA requirements.

SIMATIC Logon offers a number of security mechanisms on both the administrator and user sides. Users are uniquely identied in the usual way by means of a user ID, a user name and a password. Functions like pass-

word aging, automatic log-off after a predened time and blocking the pass-word after entering it wrongly several times guarantee the highest levels of operating security. In addition ad-ministrators can set up new users online on a cross-plant and cross-application basis as well as lock these users.

With SIMATIC Logon, the high avail-ability is provided by primary/secondary domain controllers and the local Windows User Management system.

SIMATIC Electronic Signature – Support for electronic signatures

This option integrates itself in SIMATIC Logon and supports electronic signa-tures. This makes possible signing of data records, since these activities must be recorded on a forgery-proof basis.

10

Page 11: WinCC V6 KurzB e - gongkongdownload.gongkong.com/file/company/siemens/kb_wincc_v6_e.pdf · nology-speci c and vertical market extensions, non-proprietary process communication via

SIMATIC WinCC Version 6.0New open standards

Right from the start, SIMATIC WinCC has stood for the highest levels of openness and integration, since it has consistently backed Microsoft technol-ogies. Version 6, in addition to using Microsoft SQL Server 2000 also adds Visual Basic for Applications (VBA), Visual Basic Scripting (VBScript), data-base access via OLE DB and new OPC standards. OPC HDA, OPC A&E and OLE-DB are features of WinCC/Connectivity Pack.

Visual Basic for Applications – for individual extensions

Whenever people want to create stan-dards for solutions that are specic to branches of industry or to projects, there is a desire for individual cus-tomizing and extensions to the con-guration tool. This means that with WinCC Version 6, we integrated VBA in the WinCC Graphics Designer - which is the user-friendly standard environ-ment for application-specic exten-sions and is also in Microsoft‘s Ofce products. This means that the Visual Basic knowledge that is available to many conguring engineers and users can be used in an effective way. And apart from this, standards for repeat engineering tasks save time and money!

When doing this, the WinCC object model allows you to access all WinCC Graphics Designer objects using the COM object model, as well as tags, messages, archives and texts. At the same time, it is possible to easily access the object model of other man-ufacturers‘ applications (e.g. Ofce products).

In this connection, “convenience“ in the Visual Basic Editor includes

• Code templates

• Syntax highlighting

• Intellisense support

• Debugging

VBA example applications:

• New menu entries

• Rapid conguration dialogs for user-specic objects

• Automatic generation of tags, mes-sages, archive variables and triggers when you paste a user-specic object in the picture

• Automatic plausibility checking

• Importing external data for auto-matic picture generation

Visual Basic Scripting – ease-to-learn and robust

VBScript is a Microsoft runtime script-ing language based on Visual Basic that was designed for Internet envi-ronments. For this, you only need a Microsoft Scripting Host that is pres-ent on every computer that has Win-dows 2000, XP and ME installed. This

Visual Basic Scripting

makes VBScript ideal for use in SCADA systems with Web technology.

VBScript has its own user-friendly editor with debugging support. The scripts themselves have access to the properties and methods of all WinCC graphics objects, to ActiveX controls and to the object model of other manufacturers‘ applications. This allows you to control the dynamic behavior of objects as well as to easily establish connections to other manu-facturers‘ applications, for example to Microsoft Excel and SQL databases).

Because it is so easy, VBScript is par-ticularly suitable for beginners. On the other hand, its openness is interesting for advanced WinCC users too. If you prefer, you can continue to use ANSI-C as the script language, either on an alternative or supplementary basis!

• Printing the current view of a control (e.g. Trend / Alarm Control)

Greater openness, better integra-tion capability

• Integration of database data as an individual value or a table („ODBC database table“ logging object)

• Integration of external data in CSV format as a table or a curve

• Ability to develop own logging system providers for displaying data as a table or graphic (WinCC/ODK option)
