3. Snap and scale beautifully
39’58 Next is really about scaling your app beautifully.
Look at this…
You saw Mike Enjulo show all of these PCs, and every one of them is running Windows 8.
Every one of them is running the Start screen. Wednesday, December 21, 11

These are the seven gestures and I’m not going to go through all of them. Many of them you will understand and there’s a few new ones I want to call attention to.

42’15 The great news is that the built-in templates and the controls already provide great scaling support.
HTML and XAML were both already built for scalability. Web pages already run on all of these machines and XAML’s been great about that from the beginning.
But it does mean that you’ll want to provide three size of assets to be ready for HD screens in the future.
This 100% asset that you see here is the one that when you’re debugging on your Samsung Windows Developer PC you will see show up there. The 140% is the one that shows up on the same screen except more HD. There are laptops already running at 140%. Then 180% is the size running on the ultra HD screens that are going to become common place in a couple of years.
If you provide these three asset sizes, or even better vector art, like SVG or you use CSS Primitives to draw your UI, or XAML then you’re covered. We don’t anticipate ever asking for another asset size. This isn’t like one time we ask for it and then next time we’re like “screens are getting bigger” and then “Here’s another asset size”. We’re not going to keep asking you to redesign your apps.
We believe that this gets us through the effective DPI at which humans can perceive on a screen.
Think about this from the beginning and you will gracefully scale across the widest variety of PCs.
Then you think about “What are the different views of your application that you have the opportunity to provide?”

So a share lets any app share data with any other app.
We have something we call the source: that’s the app that is sharing something. In the Internet Explorer example it’s IE sharing its web page. Its target is something that can be shared through.
Really what we’ve done here is provide a set of common formats that we provide for data interchange between the apps.
Let me show you a couple of demos of this.
I’m going to bring in our News app, and let’s say there’s an article that I want to share. I’m going to bring in the Share charm…
