Use the function keys! F1 opens the help menu in any
application! F2 allows you to rename a file F3 performs a search F4 shows the “recent” list from the
address bar of the active window.

Use the Control key for shortcuts! Control + C = Copy Control + V = Paste Control + X = Cut Control + A = Select All Control + Z = Undo

Use the Alt key! Alt + Tab = Toggles between open
windows. Alt + F4 = Quits the program you are
in.

Use the Control + Alt + Delete keys! Alt + Tab = Toggles between open
windows/applications. Alt + F4 = Brings up Task Manager
(Quit the program you are in.)

Create shortcuts! Find the program in the Start menu. Right click on the icon Choose “Send To” Desktop (create
shortcut)

Use the drag and drop method to move files. Have two Explorer Windows open Open the folders that contain the files
you want to move. Drag them from one window to the
next.

Use the first letter of the file name to jump to the file if it is in a list of files.

Create shortcuts on your desktop to folders on your computer Don’t click through folder after folder
on your computer if you use the folder a lot.
(Create a direct path to it via a shortcut.)

Use Alt + Prt Sc (Print Screen) keys If you need to capture a window or a
picture of an error message that is displayed in a dialog box press the Alt and Print Screen keys to copy the image to your clipboard.
(Paste the picture with the message in it into a Word document.)
