UNITE2NITE EXCEEDS EXPECTATIONS!For the first time ever five Jewish organizations joined together to present unite2nite – a pre-Chanukah community celebration at the River Rock Theatre on Wednesday, November 17.

The school choirs wowed the audience with their enthusiastic singing and professionalism along with New York Entertainer Sol Zim accompanied by a world class 10-piece band.

Students from Richmond Jewish Day School, Vancouver Talmud Torah and King David High School performed Chanukah favorites with Sol Zim and the band for an appreciative sold-out crowd of 950 supporters.

The concert was organized by the Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation and the Jewish Seniors Alliance.

The Vancouver Jewish Men’s Choir joined Sol Zim to close out the concert.

SOL ZIM HONOURSLOUIS BRIER RESIDENTS

Oneg Shabbat at Louis Brier Home and Hospital attracted a larger crowd than usual on Friday, November 19.

New York entertainer and Cantor Sol Zim performed for delighted residents, families and staff who joined him in singing favorite Jewish and Yiddish songs.

Sol Zim told Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation Director of Development, Dvori Balshine, that “it would be an honour to perform for the residents” when she asked him to do it.

For Louis Brier residents unable to attend the unite2nite concert it couldn’t get much better than this!

GALA DINNER SET FOR SUNDAY MAY 15, 2011

The Louis Brier Foundation Gala Dinner will be held at the Sheraton Wall Centre on Sunday, May 15 to celebrate the culmination of the 2011 Foundation campaign.

Maintain and Sustain is the proposed theme for the 2011 Snider Campus fundraising campaign.

The Louis Brier Jewish Aged Foundation funds more than $400,000 annually in programs and services to Louis Brier Home and Hospital and the Weinberg Residence.

Fundraising campaigns held every other year are usually project-based and do not contribute to programs and services that make up the core funding the Foundation provides.

The focus of the 2011 Campaign is to maintain and sustain existing programs and services at our campus of care.

SAVE THE DATE Battle of the Bands 12 February 2011

Dear Friends

Mark your calendars for February 12, 2011, because this year is likely to surpass even the last two shows as the musicians and performers have even more time to hone their craft.

It is a little early to confirm, but this year, we will have some new faces and bands on stage to liven things up even more. Being that the show is on a Saturday night, we expect a packed house. So get your tickets early to be sure of a spot and before January 15, 2011 to be eligible for an Early Bird Prize.

I urge you all to try and get out to this great evening. I promise that you will meet so many people and hear fantastic music played by people you know, but didn’t know they had the guts to get up on stage and perform; that you will dance the night away; that you will likely end up winning some kind of great prize and benefitting Jewish Education and care of the elderly. Our Battle of The Bands Committee has been hard at work to make this an unforgettable experience!

Thank you so much for your support and I’ll see you on the dance floor!
