MANGO LANGUAGES
Learning a new language with Mango Languages is free
for all library patrons, and offers a fast and convenient solution
for our community’s increasing language-learning needs. Each
lesson combines real life situations and audio from native
speakers with simple, clear instructions. The courses are
presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-
world application that integrates components of vocabulary,
pronunciation, grammar and culture. Users learn actual
conversation, breaking down complex linguistic elements within
an audio-visual framework that draws important connections
and builds on information they have already learned. You can
also create a profile which will track your learning progress.
Languages currently available include: Chinese
(Mandarin), French, German, Greek, Italian, Japanese,
Portuguese, and Spanish (Latin America). There are also English
courses for Chinese, Arabic, Portuguese and Spanish speakers.

Westfield Washington Public Library
The Westfield Washington Public Library will strive, in partnership with organizations, to provide quality services, materials and facilities that fulfill the educational, informational, technological, cultural and recreational needs of the entire community.
The library board hired Kim and Rob Cullin, of Kimberly
Bolan and Associates, to help us with our new Library Strategic
Plan. We held 10 focus group sessions with staff and the public
and had an online survey. The consultants are compiling the data
and we will be having a planning retreat on November 12, 2015.
The library board hopes to vote on the new strategic plan at the
December 9th board meeting.
The library board decided to lease 35 new computers for
the staff and for public use. We will be replacing almost all of the
computers in the library. Hopefully these computers will help the
staff to better serve you and provide a better computer
experience for the public.
The 2016 Library budget was adopted at the October
Board meeting. The proposed tax rate for the library is $0.0417.
The My Library Rewards program is now up and running.
This program is a reading incentive program that promotes liter-
acy, learning and community engagement with local businesses
in our library district. Patrons can earn reward points simply by
checking out items and then go to the marketplace to redeem
coupons for use at participating businesses.

FRIENDS OF THE WESTFIELD LIBRARY
The Friends of the Westfield Library is an organization
designed to promote and support the mission of the Westfield
Washington Public Library. Through its fundraising efforts,
primarily book sales held in the library and online, the group
raises money used to fund library programs and to purchase
items that are not in the library’s operating budget.
Become a member—Your dues support our mission
and your ideas are the key to our success. Members enjoy bene-
fits of up to 40% off new books ordered through the Friends, 10%
off Friends merchandise (used books and tote bags), a copy of
the quarterly newsletter sent by mail, and the option to partici-
pate in volunteer activities.
Donate resources—We accept gently used books,
DVDs, and CDs which may be added to the library’s collection or
sold in the book sale. Recycling your donated cell phones also
helps bring in additional funds.
