COME & Try the new

Whether your mini food critics are after a traditional roast, fish and chips or mini beef burgers, there’s something to please the fussiest of tastebuds.

All of the meals on the new Henry’s menu use the freshest ingredients and have been taste-tested and given a big thumbs-up by a host of children.

The dishes will also please health conscious parents who want to ensure their little ones are eating well, with most meals served with either a salad or seasonal vegetables.

And at just $8.90 per meal, eating out as a family has never been more financially feasible.

The menu also offers smart combo meal deals and for just $2 you can add either a sweet treat, a drink or 4 Henry’s arcade game tokens to your child’s meal.

For just $14.90 you can combine the meal with all three options to make dinner a fun and enjoyable night out for the kids and for you as well.

The new-look menu folds out into a games and activity page. It also contains a colouring competition with the monthly winner awarded a Henry’s party package for 10 valued at over $150.

Henry’s super party package offers families heaps of fun but none of the hassle of hosting a children’s party.

For just $14.90 per child the package includes platters of party pies, sausage rolls, hot dogs, chicken nuggets and chips, along with juices and soft drinks.

Each child also receives 5 tokens to use in the Henry’s games arcade.

For an extra $1 per child lolly bags can also be supplied.

FABULOUS fun, quality food and even better value are on offer at Henry’s Family Restaurant with the launch of an all-new children’s menu.

In exciting news, from July diners at the Canberra Southern Cross Club Woden will be able to enjoy a taste of Thailand with Thai Chiang Rai restaurant opening on Level 1.

Club Chief Executive Officer Ian Mackay said he was delighted Thai Chiang Rai was coming to the Woden venue.

“They have a reputation for delivering delicious, good value Thai food and it’s exciting for patrons to be able to access such cuisine,” he said.

Owner of Thai Chiang Rai Joe Prego said his love for Thai food changed when he met his wife, Nat Chaiyabarn.

“Once I sampled Nat’s cooking I really enjoyed it,” Mr Prego said. “I thought it was better than what was available elsewhere so we decided to open a restaurant and we’ve never looked back.”

The couple opened Thai Chiang Rai in Kingston in 2000, which they sold in 2010, and in 2005 branched out to open their highly popular Belconnen restaurant.

Mr Prego said traditional favourites such as chicken satay and massaman curry would be on the menu, as would signature, unique dishes such as black pepper beef, roast chicken, macadamia scallops and chilli mussels.

“When we say we use only the freshest of ingredients, we mean it.,” he said.

“We go out of our way to find the best produce, the best meat and the best vegetables, available.”

Mr Prego said he and Nat couldn’t wait to get up and running at Woden and club members will receive a 10 per cent discount off the already well-priced menu. Thai Chiang Rai Woden will offer both dine-in and take away meals. “We’re looking forward to meeting the members and providing the food and service we know they’ll enjoy, at a price that’s affordable.”

CHIANG RAI ARE COMING TO WODEN

Thai Chiang Rai will be open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Sunday from early July.

Tina Harris, who plays Lah-Lah, said the band was incredibly excited about coming to Canberra.

“We love to encourage musical entertainment in families and we think the adults get just as much out of our shows as the children.”

After the performance families will have a chance to meet Lah-Lah and the other characters, Mister Saxophone, Squeezy Sneezy, Tom Tom, Buzz and Lola.

They will also be able try the instruments and ask the band about music and entertaining.

WINTER ON THE LAKESnapper By The Lake is open from 11am to 7pm throughout winter, with the heated marquee and balcony providing the perfect toasty warm setting to enjoy our famous fresh fish and chips.

Southern Cross Yacht Club General Manager Simon Plummer said throughout winter every main meal purchased at Snapper between 5pm and 7pm will be served with a free glass of wine or a middy of tap beer.

All children’s meals will come with a glass of soft drink.

“It’s the perfect time to come in from the cold and enjoy the delicious fish and chips while overlooking the lake in heated comfort,” Mr Plummer said.

He said people could also take in the beautiful winter views of the lake on the water, with MV Southern Cross

sightseeing cruises discounted to just $9 per person.

“The boat is fully heated and it’s lovely to see Lake Burley Griffin in all of its winter glory,” Mr Plummer said.

The sightseeing cruises take in many aspects of the Canberra foreshore, including the National Museum of Australia, National Library and the High Court of Australia.

The sightseeing cruises run at 4pm on Thursdays, 10am on Saturdays and 3pm on Sundays. Bookings at the special $9 winter rate must be made direct at the Yacht Club, either in advance or on the day of the cruise.

For more information on Snapper winter trading hours and the special $9 winter cruise offer visit www.cscc.com.au.

The weather may be getting chilly but that doesn’t mean you can’t spend winter enjoying delicious food and picturesque views at Lake Burley Griffin.

FRENCH NIGHT

French gastronomy in South West of France and Bordeaux has always played a second fiddle to the famous wines of this area, however this area is actually the heart of French cuisine and arguably loved the most by chefs and gourmands.

Having lived and worked in the region as a young apprentice chef, it taught me not only about the food but about the terrain, climate and how it had a profound effect on how people lived.

The areas of Gascony, Tarn, the Basque country and Bordeaux have all contributed to the reputation of cooking from south-west France. Gastronomy in the South West is particularly well known for its foie gras, cassoulet, poule au pot and meat confit.

Here you get a real taste of the land, its flavours, quality products and authentic age-old recipes.

From the Perigord to the Gers, and the Landes to the Tarn, South Western cuisine is composed of preserves and jarred dishes, stuffed preparations and confits.

The dishes we have selected for the French Night reflect the culinary heritage of the region, highlighting the best of produce at the prime of seasonality as we take you through a culinary journey through the South of France.

We hope you can join us

Sincerely

Anurag Gautam

WINE lovers searching for a top drop packed with varietal character, complexity and flavour can now enjoy two new premium wines at the Canberra Southern Cross Club.

Grant Burge Wines 5th Generation Semillon Sauvignon Blanc and the 5th Generation Shiraz are now available at the Golden Grille at Woden, the Valley Grille & Carvery at Tuggeranong and The Cornerstone Brasserie at Jamison.

Grant Burge Wines Chief Winemaker Craig Stansborough said he was proud to have the wines featured at the Club.

“It’s great to get your wines in front of people to let them enjoy them,” he said.

“As a winemaker I still get a kick out of that.

Mr Stansborough said wine lovers could expect a full-bodied wine from the shiraz, with plum, spice and licorice flavours along with a silky finish.

He said the semillon sauvignon blanc had vibrant, fresh fruit characters, a lovely feel in the mouth and richness on the palate.

Grant Burge, a fifth-generation vigneron, founded Grant Burge Wines with his wife, Helen, in the heart of the Barossa Valley in 1988.

Mr Burge’s wine heritage dates back to his great-great-grandfather, John Burge, who left England for the Barossa Valley in 1855.

Grant Burge Wines has been awarded many major trophies, including the pinnacle of Australian wine awards – an ‘outstanding’ ranking in the Langton’s Classification for its Meshach.

Earlier this year Accolade Wines bought Grant Burge Wines, with Mr Burge remaining heavily involved in the business.

The 5th Generation Semillon Sauvignon Blanc and the 5th Generation Shiraz are available at the Club at a great introductory price for Members of $24.90 a bottle and $5.90 a glass.
