About WINZAVOD Contemporary Art Center

The WINZAVOD Contemporary Art Center is a unique multi-disciplinary space that brings together a wide variety of genres of modern culture.

WINZAVOD as an institution sees its main goal in support and development of contemporary art in Russia. Today there are 3 exhibition halls and the most popular art galleries that specialize in contemporary art.

BEST OF RUSSIA, THE ANNUAL PHOTO PROJECT

Best Photos of Russia, the annual federal photo contest was founded by WINZAVOD in 2008

with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation.Its aim is to capture everyday life of the country in offbeat and rich photos made by

theordinary dwellers.Any citizen of Russia is invited to participate. Among the participants are not only

amateurphotographers of different age, but acknowledged artists.2009:— 25 000 photographs— 569 residential areas— all territorial subjects of Russia— over 70 000 guests attendedthe exhibition in February 2010

2010:— 35 000 photographs— 569 residential areas— all territorial subjects of Russia— over 80 000 guests attendedthe exhibition in February 2010

2011:— 29 089 photographs— 569 residential areas— all territorial subjects of Russia- Work in progress now (jury votation)

START. THE PROGRAM IN SUPPORT OF YOUNG ARTISTS

START programme in WINZAVOD started in October 2008. Programme mission: START programme aims to promote and support young Russian artists with no exhibition experience.

 Programme goals: • To present emerging artists and to stimulate their creativity and involvement in the Russian and international art scene. • To facilitate the integration of Russian youth into the cultural process.• To stimulate the art process in the Russian provinces.• To foster the innovative ideas of young Russian artists that will contribute to the development of Russian art in general.

WINZAVOD PROJECTSCOMMISSIA. X FESTIVAL OF COMICSThe International Festival of Comics and Manga

Founded in 2002, KomMissia took place in May 2008 on WINZAVOD. The festival is based

on online competition that takes place on www.kommissia.ru web-site. In 2011 it drew over 500 artists from eight countries to take part in the competition.

Every year KomMissia has an impressive guest list of comics makers, publishers and festival

organizers from all over the world. So far the festival has been visited by artists and industry

professionals from France, Japan, Italy, South Korea, Switzerland, Poland, Slovenia, USA,Ukraine, Finland, and Bulgaria.

It has been two years now since Moscow joined the party. Now on the nightfrom May 15 to May 16 contemporary art in Moscow becomes an adventure that is accessibleto anyone.
