WaveIP WIPAIR Engineering Note Power Options

Please download and read the latest WaveIP Configuration and Installation Manuals as some items can change.

These Engineering notes are guidelines only based upon LINKITs installation experience. Hopefully they will assist in making your Installation plan work like clockwork.

Request a seat at the next LINKIT Technical Web session where we go through the setup and installation of the WaveIP radios.

    1. The Cable installed between the outdoor Radio and PoE MUST be Shielded CAT5e with metallic RJ45 connectors fitted and tested for pin continuity. Dont forget to install the Rubber cable entry and clamp before terminating the outdoor RJ45 connector.

WaveIP single port PoE Details Version 1 Radio POE for WA3000 and WA6000 radios THESE ARE NOT COMPATIBLE with the Version 2 Radios

10/100base-T Port : Auto Sensing (Default) Or Fixed by User DC Socket : 2.1mm Center Pin Positive Power input : 48vdc 0.86mAmp (Max) Surge Protection is in the Outdoor Radio unit provided you use Shielded Cat5e cable

V1 Fast Ethernet Outdoor Ethernet Port Pin outs Note: This PoE is NOT 802.3af compliant The wiring is: Port 1 - data pair 1. Port 2 - data pair 1. Port 3 - data pair 2. Port 4 - LED. Port 5 - LED. Port 6 - data pair 2. Port 7 - power (48VDC+). Port 8 - power (48VDC-). LED pair is for the Power Loop via the Outdoor radio as proof of ODU connectivity.

ONLY ever connect Version 1 Radios to a White PoE injector. If you need to upgrade to a V2 radio you must install the V2 PoE as below. Anything else will cause damage to the radios Ethernet port.

    FE V2 PoE BRICK Outdoor Ethernet Port Pin outs Note: This PoE is 802.3af compliant The wiring is: Port 1 - data pair 1. Port 2 - data pair 1. Port 3 - data pair 2. Port 4 - power (+ 48VDC). Port 5 - power (+ 48VDC). Port 6 - data pair 2. Port 7 - power ( -48VDC). Port 8 - power (- 48VDC).

There is only Ethernet Port Green LED for LINK and Yellow traffic LED.

    GIGE PoE BRICK Outdoor Ethernet Port Pin outs Note: This PoE is 802.3af compliant The wiring is: Port 1 - data pair 1. Port 2 - data pair 1. Port 3 - data pair 2. Port 4 Data Pair 3 & power (+ 48VDC). Port 5 - Data Pair 3 & power (+ 48VDC). Port 6 - data pair 2. Port 7 - Data Pair 4 & power ( -48VDC). Port 8 - Data Pair 4 & power (- 48VDC). EXTERNAL 48Vdc Input Options 48vdc external DC GigE Poe Brick

These DC POEs have in internal regulator but need 46-56Vdc input.

Ensure you put an Inline Fuse on the DC feeder for protection.

    External WA3K/WA6K / WA8K V2 Radio 48vdc Surge PoE

Contact LINKIT to discuss which Surge PoE is suitable for the WaveIP radio you want to install.

Always put an in line 1amp fuse with the DC feeder whenever running a radio directly of a Battery. Allows for protection and maintenance if required. Ensure the Surge protection earth is attached to a good earthing point. Always check the polarity of the earth used in other radios attached to a mast or rack. This is a shock hazard and a risk of damaging the radio devices.

    Consecutive Radio connections

The Loop through Cross over POE is an option in the WA3000, WA6000 radio products PROVIDED they of the same PoE Version.

You CANNOT Loop through a WA8000 radio to a WA3000 or WA6000 radio

You CANNOT loop through a V1 Radio PoE with a V2 PoE Radio. Doing so will damage the Radios Ethernet port and require Factory repair

    Synch Port Coaxial connectivity

The Synchronization port has a BNC connector and uses a 50Ohm coax to connect two Synch ports together. If you have a third radio to synch then insert a Tee section and add the additional Coaxial leg. The coaxial cable carries a Synch pulse hence you will see in link manager a Synch count increase for every Synch pulse rcvd, hence you can quickly confirm if the synch pulse is getting through by regular up count of the synch count pulse in every Synch slave unit.
