Wireless Joey ReceiverThe Wireless Joey Access Point Does Not Turn OnIf the green power LED on the Wireless Joey Access Point does not light up after plugging in the device to power, verify that there is power from the electrical outlet.

Cannot Connect the Wireless Joey Receiver and Wireless Joey Access PointIftheWirelessJoeyAccessPointdoesnotfindtheWirelessJoeyreceiverwhilebotharein WPS Mode, proceed as follows until the two devices connect:• Put both devices into WPS Mode and try again. WPS mode times out after two minutes.• Move the devices closer together, doing your best to position them into a line of sight

until the Wi-Fi signal is strong (a green reading). After repositioning the devices, put bothinto WPS Mode to see if they connect.

• Ensure that another device is not also in WPS Mode, which can interfere with WPSMode between the Wireless Joey receiver and Wireless Joey Access Point.

• Disconnect the end of the Ethernet cable from the Wireless Joey Access Point andconnect it to the Wireless Joey receiver until the software download completes on theWireless Joey receiver. Then reconnect the Ethernet cable to the Wireless JoeyAccess Point.

14Troubleshooting | Receiver Issues

There Is No Signal Between the Wireless Joey Receiver and the Wireless Joey Access Point• Bring the two devices closer together, making the Wireless Joey Access Point more

centrally located. If necessary, connect the Wireless Joey Access Point to a Hopper Internet Connector (HIC), which allows you to position the Wireless Joey Access Point closer to the Wireless Joey receiver.

• If the Wireless Joey receiver is still trying to take a software download after 10 minutes, disconnect the end of the Ethernet cable from the Wireless Joey Access Point andconnect it to the Wireless Joey receiver until the software download completes. Thenreconnect the Ethernet cable to the Wireless Joey Access Point.

The Wireless Joey Receiver Does Not Display Video• Check the Wireless Joey Access Point’s connection to the Hopper receiver model, as

well as all the cable connections from the dish to the Wireless Joey, ensuring that they are secure and hand-tightened.

• Check the signal indicator. If the signal is weak, reposition the devices.• Ensure that there is no interference from other 5G devices, such as a microwave,

cell phone, or a neighbor’s wireless network. If possible, reposition the Wireless JoeyAccess Point to avoid the interference.

15Troubleshooting | Receiver Issues

• It is possible to lose the connection between the Wireless Joey receiver and theWireless Joey Access Point but still have the signal indicator showing a strong signal. On the remote control, press MENU and select Settings, Network Settings, andWhole Home. On the Whole-Home screen that displays, verify that the Wireless Joeyreceiver is linked to the correct Hopper receiver model. If it is not linked, select theHopper receiver model that you want to link to and press SELECT on the remote to linkthe two devices.

• If the signal indicator shows a strong signal, reset the Wireless Joey receiver bypressing and holding its POWER button.

• If the signal indicator shows a weak signal, move the Wireless Joey receiver and theWireless Joey Access Point closer together, positioning them into a line of sight asmuch as possible.

• If the devices were working and suddenly stopped working, unplug them and powerthem back up to reestablish connections.

There Is No Sound• Check that all connections are hand-tightened.• Verify that DISH programming is displaying on the Hopper receiver model.• Connect RCA audio (red and white) cables from the Wireless Joey receiver’s audio

outputs to the TV’s audio inputs. Then change the TV to the correct input for the RCAconnection, and change the settings for the TV on the Wireless Joey receiver to matchthe TV’s settings.
