• for win98 you can type winipcfg in the run which is Gui program and check Ip on each interface mainly Network cards. In windows 2000 go to dos or a command prompt , and type ipconfig or ipconfig /all. Our valid IP is 69.50.7x.xxx

Ping / Nslookup

• Things to note Ip address, gateway and DNS assigned. Verified the ip and gate way can be pinged, if problem still remains last thing to check is dns. For win98 you can try ping a website to see if it resolved the name to ip and windows 2000 type nslookup website. If the is no resolved search for accellerator program or firewall. Also virus can cause your connection to flood making web browsing impossible.

Select the utilities tab. Here check SNR’s on both sides. SNR should be more than 15 or green, not red.

To fix SNR problem antenna needs to be realign.

• Open the client manager, go to advance select link test. Pay close attention to SNR on both local and remote, this value should not be less than 15 db or red. Signal should not be less than –73.

Etherants• First stage in trouble shooting a customer is to

let them explain the problem. Try to determine exactly what you are dealing with, whether they have a firewall or router, direct connection etc.

• Limited or no connectivity Network icon appear in the icon tray with an exclamation

mark and says limited or no connectivity.

• Network indicates connected with ip address 169.x.x.x• Internet explorer says the page cannot be displayed.• Ip address conflict

• 1) Check Rodopi to ensure that customer account is active and the password is correct

• 1b) If account is not active verify the reason.

• 1c) If account is on manual hold during regular office hours contact the sales department to verify if instructions were given for that status.

• 1d) If the account states on hold-late. please advise the customer to contact our accounts department and remind them of our business hours.

• 2) verify that customer's antenna is connected to the network and that the signal is beyond marginal with use of client manager.

• Do not ask customer to unplug antenna from injector and call you back. If you think antenna need a reset do it yourself with customer on line. Use client manager under commands reset EC.

• 2b) if customer's antenna does not appear verify that customer antenna is connected and powered up.

• 3)Repair connection. Quick method, click on the two computers on the bottom right corner. Click on support tab then repair button.

• First thing is to establish whether or not they are seeing their firewall/router

• Open a dos prompt to determine the gateway IP address and DHCP server address which are usually the same. Ref page 6

• 3) Ping the gateway IP Address.• 3b) If no reply, ask customer to reboot (firewall)

immediately• 3c) If the gateway does reply, customer needs to connect

directly to the firewall using the http:// ip address of gateway management connection and go directly to the status menu.

Incorrect ip address• Ip conflict reported. You must first find where the conflict is, to do this open the event

viewer under administrative tools. Open the system and check any red circle marked event. The system usually records the ip and mac address of the offending computer or device. Try to locate that device and make sure this ip is not static.

• If it is receiving a 192.168.xxx.xxx address you need to know the gateway and DHCP server address (ref page 6). Have customer ping the gateway then do a arp –a this will give the mac address of the offend device, which you can then lookup in Rodopi.
