Wirelessly Connecting to Janome and Elna Sewing and Embroidery Machines

If you currently own a Janome or Elna sewing and/or embroidery machine that has a USB port, you could be transferring your embroidery designs wirelessly. If you own AcuDesign and do not have a Wi-Fi enabled machine, you can use current technology to deliver designs to your machine.

First, you will have to purchase a Wireless USB memory stick. These range in price from $19 to $30 at places like Wal-Mart, Amazon or most office supply stores.

Two recommended products are:1. SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick - 16GB or less2. SanDisk iXpand Flash Drive - 16GB or less

How do these work?The SanDisk Connect Wireless Stick is a wireless stick that requires you to download an app from either the Apple App Store, Android Google Play Store or the Amazon App Store. As per package instructions, the stick must be fully charged and turned on.

1. Go to Settings on the iPad:

2. Locate the wireless USB device and connect.

6. Select Export.

7. Select SanDisk Flash.

8. Select Upload (bottom right). The design will be automatically placed in the Emb/Embf folder. SanDisk automatically puts the Emb and Embf folder on the USB with the first transfer.

9. Select Done (bottom right corner).

For future transfers, open Emb.

10. Select upload (bottom right).

At the Machine1. Insert the USB device into the machine.2. Select the embroidery function.3. Select Open File.4. Select Embf folder.5. Select design.

SanDisk IXpand Flash DriveThe iXpand has a lightening connection on one side and a USB connection on the other side. This product works best with an embroidery machine and the AcuDesign app.

If your machine requires the USB to be formatted, do this before transferring any designs. You will need to download the iXpand App from the Apple App Store to your iPad. Attach the lightening in the slot on your iPad.

1. Open AcuDesign.2. Select design.3. Tap Export.4. Choose format.

5. On the top bar, select More.

6. Turn the SanDisk iXpand Drive On and then select Done.

7. Select SanDisk iXpand Drive.

8. Select your folder. If you formatted the USB, there will be an emb folder. When selected, there will be an embf folder. Choose those if required.

9. Select Save Here.
