Executive Summary

I have been interested in Information Technologies for a while, one of

them being wireless technologies. As an engineer, it will be important

to track future trends in wireless technology. These trends range from

combining current technologies to creating new technologies from

scratch.

The primary goal overall is to make different kinds of wireless

technologies as accessible as possible anywhere, anytime. Hybrid

wireless networks are estimated to be able to provide up to 2×768

Kbps. To create better technologies, one can either modify the

software or create a new architecture entirely. Both ways are essential

for a more effective wireless system.

Primary Goals

The two main aims: Universal Access (UA) and Always Broadband

Connection (ABC) services across any network and terminal

One method is to combine different technologies together such as cellular technology, Wireless LAN, and Bluetooth

Another method is to implement new technologies, such as Cloud

Computing and Mesh and SON technologies.

Primary Architecture Types

There are many kinds of wireless architectures including multiple

types of cellular technology, fixed and nomadic wireless access,

wireless LAN, and even Bluetooth.

Different wireless networks which will be able to work together

include cellular systems, regional wireless networks, and

radio/television/satellite communication systems.

All-IP technology will enable data to be transmitted regardless of

the original medium from which it is.

Combining Technologies

Vertical handover, the handover between heterogenous networks,

will shatter the restrictions imposed by horizontal handover, the

handover between homogenous networks.

Combining technologies will be able to achieve a single-user rate of

2×768 Kbps.

The future of technology networks comes from combinations of

WWAN (3GPP/3GPP2 cellular network), WMAN (WiMAX), and WLAN

(Wi-Fi).

A significant problem to be encountered is the interruption between

different standards of different networks.

New Technology Designs

Cloud computing is a phenomenon where the vast majority of computing resources are based in one location.

It will reduce resources and enhance efficiency. The only other important processing tasks remaining will be visual and audio processing.

Mesh and Self-Organizing Network technologies involve networks that self-organize to form the most efficient transmissions. The mesh network is a multi-hop network that is based off Ad Hoc networks.

Conclusion

There are two different methods for improving wireless technologies

Combining technologies together at the same place creates the

best configuration of multiple networks

Mesh and Self-Organizing structures will self-organize to form the

best path based on the user’s preferences

The key is to make wireless networks more accessible over the

breadths of time and space.
