Our wireline tensioners (WLT) maintain a constant vertical tension on the drilling riser. Our wireline tensioners (WLT) maintain a constant vertical tension on the drilling riser. In floating vessels they compensate for the effects of heaving and rolling due to waves, currents, tidal water and wind and they allow for safe and efficient drilling.

Our broad range of wireline tensioner (WLT) systems and sizes supports your riser according to your individual project requirements.

Compared to direct acting tensioners (DAT), WLT systems normally provide more tensioner units resulting in increased redundancy. Additionally, they are more flexible in the location of the tensioner units. Critical components are installed away from the moonpool and splash zone, thereby increasing the component’s lifetime.

Our experts provide comprehensive support, right from the pre-engineering and tender phase. Simulating your specific rig layout and precise calculations is a vital part of this, resulting in the tensioning system that best meets your operational needs.

In the WLT system’s design we have a strong focus on performance, safety and reliability. In daily operation, performance measured as load variation is minimized

by optimizing the hydraulic flow path. With an in-depth knowledge and extensive tests we ensure the best com-bination of wires and sheaves and minimize mechanical friction in the system.

Compared to industry standards, we extend the lifespan of the WLT system significantly with larger bearings, high performance wire ropes, sheaves and cylinders.

Our WLTs are equipped with a field proven anti recoil system to ensure fast and safe emergency disconnec-tion. The closure algorithm is based on simulations on disconnects in a wide range of operating conditions.

With a split main shaft on dual units, our maintenance friendly WLT system ensures fast and simple replace-ment of shaft and bearings.
