Looking back on the 26th year of Wisconsin BusinessWorld®, Wisconsin’s business and education communitieshave worked hard to support the program. Thanks to yourcontinued dedication, 315 students participated at BusinessWorld® 2007, which was our largest program in the pastfive years!

As the global economy continues to expand, Wisconsinfaces workforce challenges. In preparation, today’sstudents must develop real-world skills before entering theworkforce. Business World® enables Wisconsin’s businesscommunity to help participants realize the role thatbusiness plays in maintaining a healthy state economy. Inaddition, Business World® helps students and teachersbuild an appreciation for, and awareness of, the careeropportunities available in Wisconsin.

We believe this Annual Report shows how Wisconsin’sbusiness and education communities can work together tokeep Wisconsin a great place to live, work and play. Mission

Wisconsin Business World® is designed to provide students and educators from acrossthe state with an experience that demonstrates the value of business and economicseducation. This unique program offers a better understanding of, and an appreciationfor, the free enterprise system in which we live.

Program Basics

Business World® for students is a four-day program that brings high school studentsand business volunteers together on a college campus to learn about the challengesfacing business and our free enterprise system. Student participants are divided intoteams of 11-12 individuals who function as a company for the program. Each companyis assigned a volunteer business leader who acts as the company’s advisor. Thestudents learn about a variety of business concepts through competitions, seminars,business tours and the creation and presentation of a business plan.

Business World® for educators is a three-day program that gives participants anopportunity to gain a better understanding of how their classrooms impacttomorrow’s workplace. Educators interact with CEOs and managers of some ofWisconsin’s leading companies and tour facilities to see and hear first-hand what isexpected of today’s employees.

This year two students at each session were awarded $500 BusinessWorld® college scholarships. The students were chosen based on anapplication essay, a letter of recommendation and an interviewconducted by Business World® leaders.
