Wisdom Talks About WORKLesson One, Level Three
Why Is Work So Hard? When somebody tells you that they have a job for you to do,
are you excited? Or do you think, "Oh, boy, this is going to be
hard/boring/not fun..."
Is work good or bad?The Bible has an answer for this question.
Read Genesis 2:89 and Genesis 2:1517According to Genesis 2:15, God put Adam into the Garden of Eden to work and take care of it. In other words, God created Adam to do a job to work! The work that God gave Adam to
do was good work. Unfortunately, Adam and Eve did something that made their work really hard. They disobeyed
God and sinned.

Honoring Those Who WorkAmong Us
The Bible reminds us, however, that there are some people
who have been working for us. We need to appreciate them
and honor them for their work.
Read 1 Thessalonians 5:1213This passage reminds us to appreciate the people who are
working to teach us the Word of God.
On the lines below, write down the names of some people who
are working hard to teach you about the Bible. (Don't write
down "Sunday School Teachers". Instead, write the name of
your Sunday School teacher, pastor, parents, or Awana leaders
anyone who is teaching you the Bible.) _________________ __________________________________ __________________________________ _________________As you finish reading this passage in 1 Thessalonians, notice
the different ways that you can appreciate your teachers (for

lying, and tricking other people.

A Hard-Working MissionaryPaul was a missionary. He worked hard to teach people about God's
plan of salvation through the death and resurrection of God's perfect
Son, Jesus.
Because Paul was a missionary and spent much of his time
traveling, preaching, and teaching, churches that he had started
often sent him money to help support him in his ministry.
However, Paul also worked hard to support himself at different times.
Even though he didn't have to, Paul worked hard to earn enough
money for himself and to support some of the people who were
traveling with him so that he would not be a burden on others. He did
this to set an example for us.

chosen to love us. God wants us to grow in love for Him as we spend time with Him, getting to know Him through His Word and prayer. When we are too "busy" to pray or read the Bible, we are making our work (or play!) an idol. Mary
chose the better part taking the time to sit at Jesus' feet, learn from Him, and love Him more.

The creation of the world by God is the starting point for the Bible and the foundation of the Christian faith. God
has a right to be the supreme ruler of the universe because He created it. He has
determined what is right and what is wrong because He
made the world.
Did you know... that Jesus Christ was working with God when God created the world? John 1:13 says, "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God. All things came into being through Him, and apart from Him nothing came into being that has come

Jesus Worked When We Could NotWhen God created the world, He made it perfect. However,
God gave Adam and Eve a choice. They could choose to obey
God, or they could choose to reject Him as their authority and

Since Adam and Eve, every human being ever born (except
Jesus Christ, God's own Son) has been born a sinner. Even
one sin, one little "white lie", one moment of pride, one second
of selfish anger in our hearts, is disobedience against the all
powerful Creator God.
God is perfectly holy and just. He cannot allow any sin to come

Wisdom Talks About WORKLesson Thirty, Level Three
Resting in Faith While Working ForGod's Glory
Read Ephesians 2:110Without faith in Jesus Christ, we are hopelessly dead in our sins.
Jesus did the work of living a perfect life in our place and then dying
on the cross to take the punishment for our sins. We can rest in
Jesus' saving work for us while we joyfully obey God and work for
Him because we love Him and want to serve Him.Find your way through the maze, then write the missing words in the
verse on the next page.
