Thursday, December 5, 2019 Week 14 of the Fall Semester WISDOM WEEKLY Advent is a short season, yet it covers a long distance. It is the road of a soul from Nazareth to Bethlehem. It seems such a short distance yet it is a road into eternity. It is a pilgrimage in which we don't use our feet. - Catherine Doherty, from Donkey Bells: Advent and Christmas From Student Services: Student Services students will be writing all their exams in Blessed Newman classroom. Please check your emails for your exam schedules. Students, please note that the book list posted on the website at www.seatof wisdom.ca/students/swc-books- winter-2020/ has been updated since it has first been posted. If you are purchasing your book independently, please be sure to make sure you have the correct books and editions. Chores: Please note the exam week chore schedule was sent to you by email and posted on the Student Life Board. Quiet Hours during Exams: Quiet Hours will be in effect beginning tomorrow, Friday, December 6th through to Friday, December 13th. To respect your peers’ need for an un-distracted atmosphere of study please ensure that you: speak quietly in hallways and avoid any talking in study rooms, use earphones for all music, and do not play piano or cause any sort of distracting noise in school buildings. The Quiet Hours are 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 p.m. on campus and in residences. The Breakout Hours are 12:00 p.m. – 1:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m. St. Bede’s will be available as the designated space for group studying where talking is permitted. All other study rooms are to be kept as respected spaces for strictly silent study. St. Bede’s will be available every day from Friday, December 6 – Friday, December 13 between 9:00 a.m. and 11:00 p.m. except for the following times when it is in use: - Saturday, December 7: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. - Monday, December 9: 7: 00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. - Thursday, December 12: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. and 6:30 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. - Friday, December 13: 9:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Reminder: Winter semester invoices are due December 16. Applications for Graduation are due Wednesday, December 11. This includes both the paper form and the online form! You must fill out both to graduate, even if you are not attending the graduation ceremony. You can find the online form by going to www.seatofwisdom.ca/applicatio n-for-graduation. From the Library: All books borrowed during the Fall semester are due back on December 13. Fines accrued during the semester will be added to your student fees on December 17. The last Holy Half Hour of the semester will take place Friday, December 13 at 11:30 a.m. in St. Hedwig’s. Immaculate Conception Dinner On Monday, December 9, we will have a 4:30 p.m. College Mass and will re- consecrate the College to Jesus through Mary, as part of the celebration of the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. Following this Mass, there will be a community meal. There is no need to RSVP for this meal. All students on or off the meal plan may attend for free. The dress code is professional, but semi- formal wear is encouraged to celebrate this beautiful Marian feast. Students: We need YOU to spread the word about Seat of Wisdom over the Christmas break! We will have packages for you to take home. Please share materials with others who may be interested in applying, as well as those who may be able to give a donation of any size to build and improve your campus. Work-study Students: December time cards must be submitted before you leave for the Christmas break (if possible by December 6).
