TERM 4 – WEEK 10 – 2018PRINCIPAL’S REPORT
ReportsEnd of year student progress reports went home on Friday and it was a pleasure to read every report. I feel proud of all student progress and the success which has been achieved this year. We have had a successful year at Wangi Wangi PS, recording some of our greatest academic growth throughout the year.
Open PlaygroundsOver the coming school holidays, School Infrastructure NSW is rolling out Share Our Space at more than 230 schools across the State. Through the program, many schools will open up playgrounds, ovals and sporting fields for the whole community to enjoy. Once again, Wangi Wangi PS will be open. During the school holidays, the gates will be opened between 22nd December 2018 and 25th January 2019 from 8am to 6pm. Please come down and spend some time at our school as it is also a great way for students to stay connected to their place of learning, even in holiday times.
2019 start dateAlthough holidays are just about to begin, please be aware of the commencement dates for 2019. Years 1 – 6 begin Wednesday 30th January 2019. Classes will resume on the first day back with students returning to their 2018 class teacher.
Returning to the previous class is a great way for students to come back to school after a long break, reducing the unknown feeling for students. It is also a great way for students to catch up with each other and feel settled before moving into their new 2019 class structure. 2019 classes will be formed by the end of the first week back.
2019 Kindergarten commences on Friday 1st February 2019, after all Best Start testing has been completed.
Thank you to the whole Wangi Wangi PS community for yet another great year at this wonderful school. I feel truly lucky to be able to lead such a successful school with professional staff who genuinely care about the kids they work with and a community who want to be positively involved in helping to shape the educational opportunities for all students. Please, as always, enjoy the holiday period but remember to stay safe during the summer break. I look forward to returning to Wangi Wangi PS in 2019 and continuing to lead the school through an exciting time of rebuilding next year.
Merry Christmas everyone
Tim Lewis Wishing you a safe and happy Christmas.

END OF YEAR CELEBRATION DAY
CRICKET
BACKPACKS
Wangi Public School had a visit from Cricket NSW last week. During the sessions students further developed their Fundamental Movement Skills and practised game based techniques such as catching, throwing and batting. Students enjoyed the sessions and look forward to teaming up with Cricket NSW in the future.
Lucky recipients of these backpacks donated by a Lake Macquarie based Church.
On Monday, students went to Morisset pool to celebrate the end of year with a SPLASH! We were lucky enough the rain stayed away as students enjoyed swimming in the pool and BBQ picnic provided by the wonderful P&C. Thank you to all the parents who came along.
