Wine Assessment and Services(with Intermediate Award)
LiPACE, in collaboration with the Concord Institute of Wine, has been offering the first Professional Diploma/ Professional Certificate in Wine Assessment and Services (a Wine and Spirit Education Trust approved course) in Hong Kong since 2004 with over 1,000 enrollments. Built on WSET's Level 2 and 3 exam syllabus with a wider coverage, the programme provides students with a comprehensive training and knowledge in major wine styles, grape varieties, grape cultivation, winemaking processes, factors influencing the style and quality of wine, food and wine matching, the appellation regulation and the art of wine tasting through classes taught by wine experts and industry practitioners.

Programme Objectives
Uponcompletionoftheprogramme,studentsshouldbeableto:
•applyknowledgeandskillsinprofessionalevaluationofwines
of the world with regards to their quality and commercial values,
demonstrating comprehension of relevant theories in wine
tasting and services;
•givewell-oranizedpresentationonwinetastingknowledgeto
an audience;
•engageinself-directedactivitiessuchasselectionofwinesand
spirits with regards to their quality and commercial value;
•performdifferenttasksforwiderangeofwineassessmentand
services and advise customers on appropriate food and wine
matching; and
•usesystematicapproachinwinetastingtoproduceappropriate
tasting notes for major types of wines and spirits and use the
information contained within them to identify the style, quality
and price band of wines and spirits.
Assessment
•Studentsare required to takeWSETLevel2 Intermediate
Certificate inWinesandSpiritsexaminationforNUTR3011EP
and WSET level 3 Advanced Certificate in Wines and Spirits
examination forNUTR3012EP. (WSET Level 2 and Level 3
Certificates are in linewith the levelsof theUKNational
Qualifications Framework.)
•Studentsarerequiredtohaveanoverallpass ineachcourse
assessment which consists of continuous assessment (in the
form of assignment, case study , test etc.) and examination
(exceptthatNURT3014EP-NUTR3016EPhave100%continuous
assessmentsonly).Thepassingmarkis50%.
•ParticipantswhowishtoapplytoCEFforreimbursementof
programme fees, are required to obtain an attendance rate of at
least70%.

English; or Cantonese supplemented with English terminology
as appropriate (Course material and assessment are in English)
Continuing Education Fund (CEF)
This programme has been included in the list of reimbursable
courses for CEF purposes. Eligible applicants will be reimbursed
