8:45 AM OPENING REMARKSSpeaker: Mark Roberti, Founder and Editor, RFID Journal

9:00 AM A STRATEGIC APPROACH TO RFIDCompanies in the defense sector are being asked to tag shipments to the

department of defense and some aerospace manufacturers. RFID can

deliver internal benefits, but companies need to develop a coherent

strategy for deploying RFID across the enterprise in a way that will deliver

benefits in many areas of their operations. In this session, you will hear best

practices for developing an RFID strategy that delivers near- and long-term

benefits.

Speaker: Mark Roberti, Founder and Editor, RFID Journal

9:45 AM BAE SYSTEMS IMPROVES MANUFACTURINGAND INVENTORY CAPABILITY WITH RFIDBAE Systems, an international defense, aerospace and security company,

has deployed three RFID-enabled projects in its Electronic Warfare

Integrated Manufacturing Center (EW-IMC): automated point-of-use

(POU) material inventory replenishment, automated asset and tool

tracking, and automated work-in-process (WIP) tracking. The projects

increased production capacity and capability in its supply chain and its

factories, thereby ensuring the success of current and future production

programs for its customers. Learn how the firm improved the utilization of

existing capacity across its sites, boosting manufacturing capability and

product flow, while creating a process to accelerate production transitions.

In addition, hear how the use of RFID technology may be expanded to

other factories and sites in the future.

Speaker: Deirdre Schmidt, Operations Excellence Leader, BAE Systems

10:30 AM NETWORKING BREAK IN EXHIBIT HALL

11:00 AM RFID IN COMMERCIAL AVIATION: FLYABLEPARTS, CABIN COMPLIANCE, BAGGAGE, AND ASSETMANAGEMENTRFID continues to gain traction throughout the aviation industry and

adoption in commercial aviation is increasing. Learn how RFID is being

adopted in aviation, how these programs interact with one another, and

important convergences and differences between commercial aviation

and many of the existing RFID programs in retail and manufacturing. Gain

an understanding of how the technology can increase efficiency and

improve air travel for the future.

11:45 AM TRANSFORMING A&D SUPPLY CHAINS WITHIOT SENSOR INTEGRATIONDuring this presentation, you will learn how RFID and Internet of Things

(IoT) sensor technologies can transform fragmented Aerospace & Defense

(A&D) supply chain operations – significantly optimizing asset tracking,

inventory management, warehouse and fulfillment operations, and

workflow management. Attendees will hear a case study from Tapestry

Solutions, which successfully connected 50 Boeing assembly plants with

its Enterprise Sensor Integration (ESI) technologies – saving the aerospace

giant over $100 million in its first year alone. For A&D, ESI solves

challenges due to advances in technology and threats, including massive

data collection from disjointed systems, rapid changes in globally

dispersed operations, and integration of platforms such as manned and

unmanned systems. Cloud-based ESI seamlessly integrates all types of

sensor data on a common platform - regardless of hardware models –

transforming Big Data into actionable information. Learn how ESI provides

sensor-agnostic integration for both brands and sensor types, as well as

enterprise visibility and control of assets, and integration of analytics to

facilitate relevant decision-making.

Speaker: Patrick Lubinski, Director, Business Development, Tapestry

Solutions, a Boeing Company

12:00 PM MRO COMPANY USES RFID TO INCREASEEFFICIENCY AND PRODUCTIVITYA maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) company services more than

200 aircraft in heavy maintenance every year. Most of its mechanics

possess their own tools and toolboxes, and at the end of each shift,

mechanics are required to carry out inventory checks to ensure no tools

were left unattended on any aircraft. The firm is using RFID technology to

reduce inventory checking times per mechanic, from 20 minutes to less

than three minutes, thereby saving more than 17 minutes per mechanic,

per day. Learn how the system contributes to staff productivity, while

ensuring that no personal tools are left behind on the aircraft, thereby

helping to eliminate the possibility of foreign object damage (FOD), and to

manage the maintenance of the tools themselves.

2:00 PM DELTA IMPROVES MAINTENANCE EFFICIENCIESWITH RFIDMany large companies struggle to manage maintenance of their fleets,

manufacturing machines and other complex assets. Delta Air Lines, which

operates more than 5,000 flights daily across an extensive domestic and

international network, is no exception. Almost eight years ago, Delta

began using RFID in its maintenance operations, tagging onboard aircraft

equipment that must be managed for both presence and expiration date.

Gain an understanding of how the RFID program at Delta has matured and

learn how they have deployed RFID technology to more efficiently manage

over 300,000 items on its fleet of more than 800 aircraft.

Speaker: Rick Lewis, Business Analyst, Aircraft Maintenance, Delta

2:45 PM DOD INTEGRATES RFID FOR PROPERTYACCOUNTABILITYLearn how the Defense Property Accountability System (DPAS) Program

Office is employing RFID and related technologies to ensure that property

accountability functionality is efficient and economical. The U.S.

Department of Defense (DoD) utilizes the DPAS program to track general

equipment, making it one of the most widely used systems in the DoD.

DPAS provides customers with a common software platform, but those

customers supply their own hardware. DPAS permits them to perform

inventory counts, move assets, associate unique item identifiers with those

assets, issue or return assets to and from users, and deploy real-time

location systems.
