WITNESS - Business Process Simulation

The ‘WITNESS Optimizer’ is an in house developed optimisation tool that is sold as an additional module to WITNESS. The Optimiser allows you to define experimental parameters, constraints and objectives, once completed it will complete multiple simulation runs to identify the ‘optimum’ solution.

The WITNESS VR module allows you to create Virtual worlds and objects through a third party software package called Realimation. Using the ‘Fastbuild’command, these objects are linked to the WITNESS elements in your model. You can then run your model within the virtual world. The WITNESS Documentor enables you to automatically document WITNESS Models. Maintained Customers of WITNESS as of July 2001 will already have this module.

Model Building with WITNESS Building models is straight forward, simply click on an element in the element library and paste onto the model screen. Once you have the elements in the model you can define the logic linking the elements together by mouse. Push rules are defined simply by clicking the originating element then clicking on the receiving element. Similarly you can follow a similar process for other linking logic such as Pull rules, sequence and percentage flows.

Once you have created this logic you can add additional data such as shift patterns, cycle times, breakdown and setup information. This information can of course be fed from external systems.

WITNESS has a concept of modules, which allows you the ability to build independent cells, which can be linked together or reused in new models.

WITNESS is fully interactive allowing you to stop the model at any point make changes and run the model on in time. You also have the ability to step the model back through time and put traces on individual parts in the model, both of which help in the validation of your model.

Reports are comprehensive with predefined reports and user defined functionality. The reports are updated automatically and can be viewed on screen whilst the model is running
