Tally Charts
A tally chart is a way of using lines to display information so that it is
simple and quick to find the information we need.
Tallys are grouped in 5s with the 5th line being horizontal or
diagonal.
Example
Thirty two pupils were asked to chose one of the following fruits.
Apple (A), Orange (O), Banana (B), or Grape (G). The following are
the results of their choice
These results can be displayed in the following tally chart
Add up the tallys to complete

Pictograms
A pictogram displays data in picture form.
A pictogram will always provide a key so you know how much one
full picture is worth. Take care! You can use half a picture, quarter of
a picture, even three quarters of a picture.
