15) OTHER BUSINESS

THE BASICS OF THE NEW WARSOP SUNDAY FRIENDLY LEAGUE

1. 8 games (NO SEMI OR FINAL) of 40 overs each2. Overs will be bowled in blocks of 10 from one end. Do your best bowlers have different ends3. Bowlers can only bowl 5 over spells from a maximum of 8. No more first 16 overs by best fast bowlers. Captains will need to

manage all their bowlers. 1st, 2nd and 3rd change will be in the games earlier. they’ll all bowl 2 spells4. Batsmen must retire at 50. They can return at the end of the innings but this ensures most players will get a bat. 5. There will be 2 runs for a wide and no extra ball except in the last over which will speed up the game dramatically.6. Anything leg side is a wide. Takes away any ambiguity.7. ORANGE Warsop balls to be used. This will allow clubs to wear their coloured T20 uniforms if the wish. 8. Warsop will provide monthly player awards to young players.9. £1000 to be shared by clubs fulfilling all their fixtures10. Music can be played during stoppages, for boundaries and at fall of wickets

CLUBS

1. As a result of this new format the ‘better’ Sunday teams have all dropped out to join the Essex Sunday league. Teams committed so far:

2. TillinghamKelvedon - running as a youth development sideOld Southendians 2nds - 1sts play in Essex Sunday League - not strongBenfleet 2nds - 1st play in Essex Sunday League - not strongHutton - very youthful on SundaysMountnessingWestcliff - very youthful on SundaysSouth Woodham Ferrers - running as youth development sideDengie- combination of Tillingham and BurnhamWrittle.-Development and colts-not strongBroomfield. Development and colts-not strong

3. Dave Cummins from Tillingham put Tillingham as probably the strongest side. This put Woodham in the top half of the teams in terms of Strength, if not challenging for a top 3 place,

ETHOS

4. The way Woodham runs its Sunday Cricket exemplifies what this league is all about. Making sure everyone gets a game - the difference with the league is it gives you that something to play for.

5. The ethos of the league is participation and not going all out to win by 10 wickets every week so playing strength shouldn't be an issue.

6. The League aims to provide cricket whereby young players can bridge the gap from youth to senior cricket. Important for the continued strength of our league sides.

7. The competition is grounded in the ethos of traditional friendly Sunday cricket, which we know and love.8. Warsop Sunday League has the ambition of providing for all ages and standards to make it fun to play in9. Provide different challenges for captains than normal.

SELECTION

1. The current Sunday selection policy will remain. Captain and vice-captain, then those not selected to play league on Saturday, then any others available

2. These 8 fixtures will replace existing fixtures and will not be extra games. Therefore this will be a full part of the existing Sunday structure, controlled and managed as per normal by the Sunday Captain.

COMMUNITY

1. This is very much a community initiative. Woodham are and should continue to be part of that cricketing community2. The league will give youngsters from our area access to Woodham through game interaction, and possibly attract new

members3. This raises our profile in the area. I believe this is an important initiative for our Club and something we should be

supporting. It adds a touch of friendly competition to our Sunday format which can only be a good thing for any youngsters participating.

4. We will be playing clubs we normally will not play, particularly in the local area, thereby enlarging our profile. As a club we should be helping to promote cricket and attract more people to become involved and this league has the very admirable aim of doing just that.

5. Dave Cummins, Tillingham and Peter Blackman (the Warsop organiser) have worked tirelessly for cricket in our community and we as a club should be giving them our whole hearted support
