Integrated safety functions:• Safety deactivation of the controllers with digital input• Configurable feed delay• Monitoring sample water flow

Depending on whether the pH measuring module is tobe used on its own or with other sensor measuringmodules, there is a choice of flow cell modules (pressu-rised and non-pressurised). For example, the pH mea-suring sensor can be used with the DEPOLOX® 5 mea-suring cell to measure free chlorine, chlorine dioxide, ozone and potassium permanganate. Other sensors are at hand, e.g. to measure conductivity, redox vol-tage and conductivity as well as membrane-coveredsensors for free chlorine, total/combined chlorine, chlo-rine dioxide and ozone (see separate data sheets).

The “multi-sensor” integrated into the flow cell modulemonitors the constant sample water flow, measuresthe sample water temperature and provides wide-areaequipotential earthing.

Advantages

• Modular design for the MFC and pH measuringmodule and up to four additional sensors

• Four different control types to choose from, also with automatic set-point adjustment

• Timer-controlled dosing using programmable time switch contacts

• Easy to configure with selectable, preset process-adjusted applications

• Easy to connect to process visualisation systems via an OPC server; to web technology via a ChemWeb server

to measure the pH valueThe Wallace & Tiernan MFC-pH is a possible systemalternative to the MFC multi-function controller. The control, measuring and analysis features of the MFC make it flexible enough for a variety of possible applications in drinking, process and waste water systems. Dosing pumps, electric strokepositioners and continuous actuators can be con-trolled directly according to the measured pH value.Up to four different control types are available fortwo measured settings. Five presetprocess applications assist in the configuration pro-cess and can also be used to select the controltypes. The MFC can therefore easily be configuredto the onsite requirements.

Design and function

The MFC-pH multi-function controller is composed ofthe MFC electronic module and a flow cell moduletogether with the pH sensor measuring module.

The MFC electronic module displays the measured data and functions as the control unit. The MFC mo-dule is equipped with different controller outputs, alarm contacts and integrated safety functions. Thecontroller outputs for positioners, pumps, and ana-logue signals (mA) are easily configured in the set-up menu. The alarm contacts (up to a max. of eightcontacts) are application-dependant and freely con-figurable.

A multiple assignment of safety functions such as ageneral alarm for monitoring limit values, samplewater failure, for example, is possible as well.

Flow cell modules

The following flow cell modules (pressurised/non-pressurised) are available:• DEPOLOX®5• VariaSens• Flow-through adapters

The flow-through module DEPOLOX®5 contains themeasuring module DEPOLOX®5 to measure free chlori-ne, chlorine dioxide, ozone and potassium permanga-nate. The VariaSens flow cell module is designed forusing up to two membrane sensors. For each one, there are other similar measuring modules to choosefrom. If the conductivity sensor module is to be used on its own or together with a redox measurement, aflow-through adapter can also be used.

Integrated into the flow cell modules DEPOLOX®5 andVariaSens are:
