Base data at 1:10,000 provided to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food under agreement with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Soil Map information at a source scale of 1:50,000 reproduced from Soils of Kent County West Sheet - Preliminary Map 39. Constraints on Use of this Information 1. Users of this information should understand that many soils boundaries are only approximately located due to the map scale used and the nature of soil mapping. Furthermore, unidentified soils or nonsoil land features such as man-made structures may occur as inclusions in any delineated area on the map. When present, these unidentifed inclusions can occupy up to 20% of the area of most delineations. However, for some delineations, such as those encompassing areas of high soil variablity, unidentified inclusions may occupy up to 40% of the delination. 2. Soil information is based on the examination of soil characteristics to a depth of 100cm below the ground surface. 2012 Queens Printer for Ontario Published 2012 * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Soil Phases C - Coarse Phase: 15 to 40cm of coarse materials overlying fine to very fine materials. K - Calcareous Phase: Indicates presence of carbonates in the surface layer. L - Loamy Phase: 15 to 40cm of medium textured material overlying fine to very fine textured material. P - Peaty Phase: 15 to 40cm of peaty material overlying mineral soil material. T - Till Phase: Indicates soils with glacial till in their substrata instead of glaciola custrine materials. W - Washed Phase: 40 to 100cm of medium textured glacial till overlying fine to very fine textured glacial till. Y - Compacted Phase: Used with some Brookston (BR) soils to denote presence of a high degree of natural compaction. Slope class in upper case indicates simple slopes > 50m in length. Slope class in lower case indicates complex slopes < 50m in length. Slope Classes Class %Slope Description A...............0-0.5...............Level B,b............0.5-2...............Nearly level C,c............2-5..................Very gentle slopes D,d............5-9..................Gentle slopes E,e............9-15................Moderat slopes F,f.............15-30..............Strong slopes G,g...........30-45...............Very strong slopes Soil Texture Groupings (see Soil Materials in Legend) coarse very coarse sand coarse sand medium sand fine sand loamy very coarse sand loamy sand loamy fine sand very coarse sandy loam sandy loam medium silt loam loam fine sandy loam very fine sandy loam loamy very fine sand very fine sand fine sandy clay loam silty clay loam clay loam very fine sandy clay silty clay clay heavy clay * When only a dominant (single) slope class appears in the map symbol, that slope class alone applies to the soil type or soil types shown in the symbol. Base data at 1:10,000 provided to the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture and Food under agreement with the Ontario Ministry of Natural Resources. Soil Map information at a source scale of 1:50,000 reproduced from Soils of Kent County West Sheet - Preliminary Map 39.Constraints on Use of this Information1. However, for some delineations, such as those encompassing areas of high soil variablity, unidentified inclusions may occupy up to40% of the delination.2. Soil information is based on the examination of soil characteristicsto a depth of 100cm below the ground surface.2012 Queens Printer for OntarioPublished 2012
