Professional Learning - Mathematics
On Monday 17th February, staff atWarragul North Primary School spent theday learning with Michael Ymer, a highly
regarded Mathematics Consultant.As Mathematics is a main ocus or 2014 atWarragul North Primary School staff willbe able to use the knowledge learnt romMichael Ymer to plan their Mathematicsprogram and teaching or 2014 effectively.
I commend staff on the obvious engagementand interest they displayed all day. Iam positive this powerul proessionallearning day will have a beneficial effecton Mathematics teaching and student
achievement throughout the year.Our next proessional learning day willbe based on John Hatties research calledVisible Learning. It will be held on uesday22nd April, 2014, which is the first day oerm wo. Continued on page 2.

Molly FrancisMy name is Molly Francis and I amboth honoured and thrilled to be
the emale School Captain or 2014.Warragul North Primary School issuch a great school with wonderulopportunities or all o us. I loveswimming and am a member o theWarragul Swimming Club (which keeps
me very busy!) and I also enjoy acting, reading and playingpiano - all o these things were introduced to me at WNPS.wo more o my avourite things are chocolate and OneDirection!
Being School Captain is a big responsibility, it requires a lot o
commitment and hard work but it is something I have wantedto achieve or many years as I know I will learn so much andhave so many great opportunities beore I leave or high school.
I am a riendly and honest person and I go to school every daywith a smile on my ace so i you see me in the playgroundplease come over i you want a chat!
Finn DowtyMy name is Finn Dowty and I amthis years male School Captain. I amhonoured and eager to take on this role atWarragul North Primary School or 2014.
I am very excited about representing theschool this year on important occasionssuch as the ANZAC Day service andRemembrance Day ceremony. I am also
really looking orward to taking visitors on school tours, andbeing a compere at the Junior School Concert.
Te things that I love doing most are ooty, tennis, swimming,
fishing, ice hockey and travelling.I am very proud and delighted to be School Captain this yearat Warragul North Primary School. I will try as hard as Ipossibly can to make others proud and to make the school aneven better place to be.

Patricia Bogers, Belinda Castle, Sue Bond andCathie aylor have completed their terms ooffice. We also arewelled Richard Horton atthe end o 2013 as he and his amily moved toShepparton.
I am sure we all appreciate the support they havegiven Warragul North Primary School throughbeing a part o council and serving on sub-committees or buildings and grounds, grantsand public relations and finance.
At the March meeting o School Council welook orward to welcoming the recently elected
councillors and appointing the executivepositions or this year.

HOURS CAREOn Monday 17th February OSHCheld a party theme all day care sessionwhich 18 children attended. Teday started with games in the gymollowed by a morning tea o airybread and a ruit platter. We thenwatched Despicable Me 2 and atepopcorn while watching the movie.Free play in the playground gave us anappetite or our lunch o party oods
ollowed by a visit to the ice creambar or an ice cream decorated withlollies & sprinkles. A photo booth wasun in the afernoon giving everyonea chance to dress up and have theirphoto taken. Party games o musicalchairs and pass the parcel kept thetheme going along with ree time toenjoy the Wii, colouring in, MobilO, dress ups and craf activities.Afernoon tea was airy bread andruit and we finished the day byplaying in the playground. We all hada really great day.
OSHC is available on a permanentor casual basis. Enrolment orms areavailable rom the school office orrom OSHC. A waiting list is held ia session is already ully booked. Itis important that the school office orOSHC is notified i your child is notgoing to attend a session they havebeen booked in or as that place can

Last Tursday 20th February, we had 34 very eager andexcited students ranging rom Year 3 to Year 6 competingin the Warragul North Primary Schools swimming trialsat the Warragul Leisure Centre. Every student gave theirbest effort and was rewarded with great support andacknowledgement rom everyone there.
For the 22 students who were successul enough to
finish with a great time, they moved onto the DistrictSwimming Carnival held at the same venue this week onuesday 25th February.
Tose swimmers who qualified on uesday will nowprogress to the Division Swimming which will take placeon Wednesday 5th March. Te details or this will bepassed on to the relevant swimmers.
I would like to thank Integration Aide, Sam Gardiner, orassisting and a special thank you to the handul o parentswho lent a helping hand as either a timer or a recorder, as
the morning ran very smoothly thanks to them.

Aussie of the Month
Parents are reminded that when sending medicationto school this must be dropped at the oice
and a medication orm completed to ensure theappropriate dosage is administered.
Please do not give any medication to students tokeep in their bag in any circumstances.

Mrs Burton, who operates our library, is looking orvolunteers to cover library books. Please contact MrsBurton i you are able to take some books home tocover. Contact provided!!
Head lice affects all amilies and is a pesky health
issue. We need volunteers to assist our school
community to help control any head lice problems.I you are able to volunteer please contact the
school office. raining will be provided. Parents
can participate according to their availability on a
rostered basis. We are aiming to secure one to two
volunteers per year level.
SCHOOL POLICY:I your child has untreated nits
or lice, school policy requires parents/guardians
be phoned and the child picked up rom school as
soon as possible. Contact with other children is
not appropriate until a signed orm is returned to
the school office, advising the childs hair has been
treated. You may treat the childs hair and return
the child to school on the same day.
A ollow up check will be conducted at school as
soon as possible, to ensure treatment has been
effective. I needed, parents / guardians will be
contacted again to collect their child orre-treatment o the childs hair.

Families who hold a current Healthcare cardare eligible to claim an Education MaintenanceAllowance. o claim this allowance parents mustcomplete an application orm which may be obtainedrom the school office. Please present your concessioncard at the time o completing the application.

Te Aussie o the Monthprogram is a great way to
recognise school studentsachievement - without themhaving to win a race or sitan exam. It is designed toencourage children to be proudo themselves, their school andto understand the responsibilitiesand rewards o community
participation. During 2014 staff at Warragul NorthPrimary School has agreed to regularly bestow this
honour on a student.

Sage is a responsible, mature student whodemonstrates respect and kindness to all. She ollowsthe school rules and lives our school values.

Te Senior Athletics Day or students in Years 3 to 6 will
be held on Tursday 13th March at the Geoff Watt rack
in Burke Street, Warragul. Children have been practising
or the different events during their Physical Education
lessons with Mr Fisher and are rearing to go.
o ensure the Senior Athletics Day runs smoothly we will
need helpers or timing and with the field events. A note
will be sent home this week asking or helpers. Without
volunteer helpers we cannot conduct the sports so please
volunteer.

We all want our students to get a great education, and thebuilding blocks or a great education begin with students comingto school each and every day.
Missing school can have a major impact on a childs uture astudent missing one day a ortnight will miss our ull weeksby the end o the year. By Year 10 theyll have missed morethan a year o school.
Tere is no sae number o days or missing school each day a
student misses puts them behind, and can affect their educationaloutcomes.
Coming to school every day is vital, but i or any reason yourchild must miss school speak with your childs classroomteacher and find out what work your child needs to do to keepup. Remember, every day counts. I your child must miss school,speak with your classroom teacher early as early as possible.
From 1 March 2014, new laws will mean that parents can befined or not sending students to school without an acceptable
reason.I youre having attendance issues with your child, please let yourclassroom teacher know so we can work together to get yourchild to school every day.
