Trend for Hotel Wi-Fi Coverage
Mobile service popularity
• Business travelers demand mobile officesand other mobile Internet services.
• Mobile applications on smart phones such as
micro-blogs and Wechat surge and requiredeployment of wireless networks in hotels.
Competition from oth

Wi-Fi Deployment Challenges Encountered by
HotelsChallenge 1: Difficulty in cable deployment Challenge 2: Poor indoor signal
Recabling is necessary regardless of whether
an indoor settled AP or a distributed AP is
installed, which usually takes a long time and
affects business operations.
Signals have to pass through thick w
reach inside guest rooms, which cau
signal attenuation. If signals are only
to hotel corridors, signals inside gues
may be weak and cannot meet requ

What Is WOC?

WLAN over CATV (WOC) uses CATV cables to transmit WLAN signals. WLAN and cable TV signa
combined by a combiner and transmitted to guest rooms through the CATV cables. Inside the room
WLAN/CATV signals are separated using a WOC panel.
The WOC solution uses existing CATV cables in hotels to transmit WLAN signals, which reduces w
cable deployment. WLAN signals are forwarded to guest rooms without wall penetration signal loss

Main Device Components
Splitter/combiner (mandatory)
A splitter/combiner combines CATV and WLAN signals. The
way, and 8-way splitter/combiners, among which the last tw

Indoor distributed AP6310SN (mandatory)
The AP6310SN sends WLAN radio signals to the WOC sys
to the IP network of the hotel.
1/2 power splitter (optional)
A power splitter separates AP radio signals into two channe

provide radio coverage for more rooms.
WOC panel (mandatory)
Each room has one WOC panel installed to separate mixed
into the room. The WOC panel has a built-in antenna or con
external antenna to provide WLAN coverage. The WOC pan

WOC Solution Design Steps
Step 1: Determine coverage scenarios and service requirements.
Step 2: Calculate signal loss caused by the AP and WOC panel in the guest room.
Step 3: Determine the maximum cable length allowed between the AP and WOC pan
Step 4: Select the optimal networking scheme.
