Ms. Indra Krishnamurthy Nooyi (October 28, 1955)

Chairperson and CEO of PepsiCo Inc.

Successor Fellow of the Yale Corporation .

Class B director of the Board of Directors of the New York Federal Reserve.

Serves as a member of the Foundation Board of the World Economic Forum, International Rescue Committee, Catalyst and the Lincoln Center for the Performing Arts.

Also a member of the Board of Trustees of Eisenhower Fellowships, and currently serves as Chairperson of the U.S.-India Business Council.

EARLY LIFE AND CAREER- Beginning her career in India, she held product manager positions at Johnson & Johnson and textile firm Mettur Beardsell.

Nooyi joined the Boston Consulting Group (BCG), and then held strategy positions at Motorola and Asea Brown Boveri.

PEPSICO EXECUTIVE- Joined PepsiCo in 1994 and was named President and CFO in 2001.

Nooyi had directed the company's global strategy for more than a decade and led PepsiCo's restructuring, including the 1997 divestiture of its restaurants into Tricon, now known as Yum! Brands.

Nooyi also took the lead in the acquisition of Tropicana in 1998, and merger with Quaker Oats Company, which also brought Gatorade to PepsiCo.

In 2007 she became the fifth CEO in PepsiCo's 44-year history.

According to Business Week, since she started as CFO in 2000, the company's annual revenues have risen 72%, while net profit more than doubled, to $5.6 billion in 2006.

AWARDS AND RECOGNITION-At its 2009 commencement, Barnard College awarded Nooyi the Barnard Medal of Honour, the College's highest award.

Forbes magazine ranked Nooyi third on the 2008 and 2009 list of The World's 100 Most Powerful Women.

Fortune magazine has named Nooyi number one on its annual ranking of Most Powerful Women in business for 2006, 2007, 2008 and 2009.

In 2008, Nooyi was named one of America's Best Leaders by U.S. News & World Report.

In 2007, she was chosen as a recipient of the ‘Padma Bhushan’ award by the Government of India.

In 2008, she was elected to the Fellowship of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

In January 2008, she was elected Chairwoman of the US-India Business Council.

Indra Nooyi has been named 2009 CEO of the Year by Global Supply Chain Leaders Group.

Ms. Chanda D. Kochhar(November 17, 1961)

prestigious Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies, Mumbai.

1984–1993In 1984, Chanda Kochhar joined ICICI Ltd as a Management trainee.Initially at ICICI, she handled Project Appraisal and Monitoring and projects in various industries like Petrochemicals, Textile, Paper and Cement.

1993–2006In 1993, Kochhar was sent to ICICI bank as part of a core team to set the bank. Promoted to Assistant GM in 1994 and then to Deputy General Manager in 1996.In 1996, headed the newly formed the Infrastructure Industry Group of ICICI, which aimed "to create dedicated industry expertise in the areas of Power, Telecom and Transportation". In 1998, she was promoted as the General Manager and headed ICICI's “Major Client Group”, which handled relationships with ICICI's top 200 clients. In 1999, handled the Strategy and E-commerce divisions of ICICI. Under Kochhar's leadership, ICICI bank started the Retail business in July 2000 and emerged the largest retail financer in India, in the next five years. In April 2001, she took over as Executive Director, heading the ICICI Bank.

CAREER AND CRUCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS-

2006–present In April 2006 appointed as Deputy MD of ICICI Bank. She managed the Corporate and Retail banking business of ICICI Bank.

October 2006 to October 2007, she handled the International and Corporate businesses of ICICI Bank.

October 2007 to April 2009, Kochhar was also the bank's CFO, Joint Managing Director (JMD) and the official spokesperson.

Kochhar is the Vice-Chairperson of ICICI Bank UK PLC and ICICI Bank Canada.

She is a director in ICICI International Limited and ICICI Prudential Life Insurance Company Ltd. and part of the Governing Council in The ICICI Foundation for Inclusive Growth-Member.

Kochhar is CEO and MD of ICICI Bank from May 2009 for a period of five years. She succeeded K. V. Kamath, who was CEO of the bank since 1996.

AWARDS AND ACHIEVEMENTS-Under the leadership of Ms. Kochhar ICICI Bank had won The Asian Banker - “Best Retail Bank in India” award for five consecutive years from the year 2001 to 2005. EDUCATION-Bachelor's Degree -University of Delhi (BA-Lady Shriram College) MBA -Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management Studies.Master's Degree in Business and Economics- Michigan State University.

CAREER AND CRUCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS-1977-Started career in with Voltas in their consumer products division, where she launched the Rasna soft drink concentrate.

1980-Joined Cadbury India, she was one of the first Indians selected to work on overseas assignments, which took her to the UK, (where she launched the successful brand ‘Wispa’), Nigeria and South Africa.

1994-Joined Coca-Cola, where she was its worldwide marketing director and had the responsibility to chalk out the brand’s worldwide strategy.

2003 -Joined the Zyman Group as a managing principal and head of business strategy practice in the company’s Atlanta office.

2005 (January) joined Britannia following a major management shake-up and competition snapping at its heels.

Transformed near-rudderless firm to a market’s-leading, innovative and trusted foods company.

Completed the share buyback from its foreign collaborator Group Danone.

Britannia acquired Fonterra’s 49% stake in a dairy joint venture.

Britannia moved to take full control of its high-end bakery retailer, Daily Bread, in which it had acquired 50% stake in 2006.

Britannia’s topline revenue has doubled in the four years between 2005-09. The company has been growing at around 20% annually, and its market share, in the Rs 6000-crore biscuit market, has stabilised around 35%.

CSR touch-Britannia has fostered a unique partnership with Global Alliance for Improved Nutrition (GAIN) and the Nandi Foundation to supply iron-fortified Tiger biscuits as part of the mid-day meal program in schools in Andhra Pradesh.

She belongs to a business family, the grand-daughter of H.K Firodia who founded Kinetic Engineering. Her father Arun Firodia founded the Kinetic Group.

She is the Joint Managing Director of Kinetic Engineering Ltd and Director, Kinetic Motors. Her husband, Manish Motwani, is the Managing Director of Kinetic Communications Ltd. They have a son Sidhant.

She is multi-lingual with fluency in Marathi, Hindi, Rajasthani, French and English, with smattering Sindhi.

Kinetic Honda to Kinetic Motors which later went into a technical tie up with UEN, a Taiwanese company, and Hyosung Motors (Korea) increasing its product and price range.

During this period the company increased its annual sales to 19,000 vehicles in July 2002 set to achieve a target of 26,000.

Ms. Kiran Mazumdar Shaw(Born 23rdMarch, 1956)

Chairman & Managing Director of Biocon Ltd

EDUCATION- She did her schooling at Bishop Cotton Girls School and Mount Carmel College at Bangalore.

She completed B.Sc. in Zoology from Bangalore University in 1973.

She went to Ballarat University in Melbourne, Australia and qualified as a master brewer.

CAREER AND CRUCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS- Kiran Mazumdar Shaw started her professional career as trainee brewer in Carlton & United Beverages in 1974.

In 1978, she joined as Trainee Manager with Biocon Biochemicals Limited in Ireland.

She founded Biocon India in collaboration with Biocon Biochemicals Limited, with a capital of Rs.10,000

Biocon's initial operation was to extract an enzyme from papaya.

Under her stewardship Biocon transformed from an industrial enzymes company to an integrated biopharmaceutical company with strategic research initiatives.

Today, Biocon is recognised as India's pioneering biotech enterprise.

Kiran Mazumdar Shaw held close to 40% of the stock of the company and was regarded as India's richest woman with an estimated worth of Rs. 2,100 crore.

CAREER AND CRUCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS

Raised in Mumbai and Delhi.

She did her schooling at Shimla.

She is the first Indian Woman to have Graduated from Harvard Business School.

She is the first woman to guide the functioning of a foreign bank in India.

She began her career in the year 1982.

After her education she joined the ANZ Griendlays Bank, which in now known as the Standard Chartered Bank.

She took up a variety of banking assignments before moving to Morgan Stanley's India operation.

She played an important role in NYSE listing of Wipro.

She was instrumental in facilitating the cellular phone services nationwide through a deal involving the Tatas and Birlas.

Then she became the Managing Director of the HSBC bank.

In the year 2000, the Fortune magazine declared her as the third most powerful businesswoman in Asia.

Her commendable work has been given due recognition by honoring her with the “PADMASHRI AWARD”.

Ms. Shobhana Bhartia(1957)

Vice-Chairperson and the Editorial Director of The Hindustan Times Group

The daughter of renowned industrialist KK Birla and grand daughter of GD Birla.

In the year 2001, she received the Outstanding Business Woman of the Year award.

She has graduated from the Calcutta University and later, wedded Shyam Sunder Bhartia.

This particular gentleman is the chairman of the Rs 14 billion Jubilant Organosys Limited, a Pharma company. Became a member of the HT in the year 1986, she was the very first woman chief executive of a national newspaper and in all probability, also among the youngest.

She was nominated as member of the Rajya Sabha.

Shobhana Bhartia was also handed the Global Leader of Tomorrow award by the World Economic Forum in the year 1996. Then again in the year 2001.

The National Press India Award was given to Shobhana in the year 1992.

Ms. Mallika Srinivasan(November 19,1959)

Director of TAFE

EDUCATION- She did her MA (Econometrics) from Madras University.

She did her MBA from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania.

(Married to Venu Srinivasan, the CMD of TVS Motors.)

CAREER AND CRUCIAL CONTRIBUTIONS In the year 1986 she was made the General Manager of Tafe (Tractors and Farm Equipment) Company.

She converted Tafe into a hi technology-oriented company, thereby becoming the initial choice of the farmers.

There was a period, when the company had to face a tough time, however; even then, the company invested a huge amount of over Rs 70 crore in the designing and development of products.

The Company is earning a business over Rs 1,200 cr.

Tafe has also entered into other businesses like Engineering Plastics, Panel Instruments, Automotive Batteries, Gears, Hydraulic Pumps, and Farm Implements.

MEMBER- Mallika Srinivasan is serving as the president of premier industrial bodies like Tractor Manufacturers Association and the Madras Management Association.

She is the first lady to have assumed the role of a president of the Madras Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

She is also a prominent member of the governing board of the Indian School of Business, Hyderabad.

Ms. Shahnaz Hussain

She did her schooling from the Irish convent.

She studied Ayurveda and believed that it is the best alternative to chemical cosmetics.

She took an extensive training in cosmetic therapy for a long period of 10 years from the leading institutions of London, Paris, New York and Copenhagen.

The products launched by her Company head their way to leading global stores such as Blooming Dales (New York), Harrods and Selfridges (London), Seibu (Japan), Galleries Lafayette (Paris), and La Rinaeccente (Milan).

She has launched more than 400 different kinds of beauty products.

The average growth rate of her company, which is based in New Delhi, was nearly 19.4%. In the year 2002, her Company touched $100 million .
