May 2015 Newsletter
A note from your Governor, Marty Airgood: This place is all about the heart and soul of it members. “What’s up Dock” a quartermania auction event, many of us came together and had lots of fun and raised almost $4,000 in one night, that will get us one new dock this year. I would like to give a special thank you to Colleen O’Callaghan for organizing this great fundraiser. She did a fabulous job to make this event a success. I would like to also thank all of the volunteers that helped assist with the evening. It is so much easier to run an event with the work of many hands helping. Also during the auction we had a member step up and offered to donate and install new wood on one of our old docks. Thank you, Brian Stevens.
We are also blessed to have a lot of people step up and make a big difference here at the Lodge because they care and want to see it be successful. Great things can happen when you have good people come together for a great cause. I am proud to be part of this place and thank everyone that contributes and participates and volunteers in all of our great activities.
Dock & Patio Etiquette
It is that time of year when we look forward to summer fun and enjoying beautiful Lake Fenton. We want to remind everyone about Dock manners.
1. Pull your boat up all the way to allow other boaters to dock. There is enough space for two boats to tie up on both sides of each dock. So please be kind and courteous.
2. New this year we will have a numbering system 1 – 12 on the docks. This way you will know your doc space number. In the event that it needs to be moved we will announce your number and you can quickly identify that it is your boat.
3. The docks are for Moose Members only. No other boats are allowed to dock. Our docks are not for non-members to tie up and go to the beach or to use our restrooms or to pick up their boat guests.
The patio is now open, come on over and enjoy a meal and or drinks. With the beautiful weather comes swimwear. You must wear a cover up and shoes. This applies to everyone, including children. We need to be mindful of not bringing any drinks on the patio and NOT to take any from the patio onto boats. You must have a to go license to have drinks leave the premises, we DO NOT have this type of license. So please abide the rules, we want to keep our license and our glassware.
Sorry for the inconvenience but no smoking on the patio, (this also includes e-cigarettes and they that are not allowed inside either.) This is a State of Michigan Law and we mush obey, no smoking where food and or drink are served. Ok, enough of blah, blah, blah. Please have a fun and safe summer.
One more thing, we have a lot of fun events planned for May I hope you enjoy them and look forward to seeing you here.
It is a pleasure and honor to be your Governor, thank you.
FROM THE KITCHEN….. We have a new and exciting menu coming out! It was created to please.

Coming soon!
We now have a special permit for Early Sunday a.m. serving.
A note from your Senior Regent, Carrol Gilbert Kids Dance Party on Saturday April 18th, put together by Carrie Dersherm. A great time was had by all! The kids danced, did the Limbo and had Hoola Hoop contests. They put messages in a bottle that was sealed in put out in the Lake. Thank you Carrie! We would like to do it again later in the summer. Moose International is raising the dues that we pay to them for each member. Currently, Moose international keeps $20 out of the $35 yearly dues. May 1st that is increasing to $22 per member. While that doesn’t seem like a lot, we have 668 WOTM members. That increase with cost our Chapter $1336 a year. We will not be increasing our dues at this time. We do ask that you support our fundraising actives throughout the year. What do the WOTM do with the money? This past fiscal year ( May 1st 2014 to April 30th 2015) we donated: $958.00 To Moose charities, Moose Heart & Moose Haven $1905.28 for our Lodge $726.01 Children’s parties expenses $2600.96 to charities, community service and funeral luncheons The New WOTM Board was sworn in on Monday April 27th. Thank you to the past Board for your time and hard work! From left to rt. Junior Graduate Regent Jen Wotjaszek, Senior Regent Carrol Ruff-Gilbert, Junior Regent Mary Ann Stadler, Secretary/ treasurer Stacy Sheahan, Recorder Annette Helmkay.
Denise Keipert from the Zonta Club of Fenton will be our guest speaker on Monday May 4th at 6pm, during the Board Meeting. This meeting is open to all female members. Refreshments will be served.
Funeral Luncheon Policy: The WOTM will put on a funeral luncheon for Fenton Moose Members in good standing, or an immediate family member of a Moose Member (parent, spouse, child). The WOTM Board will purchase the paper products and chicken. The Men of the Moose provide the ham, coffee, lemon aide or tea. We rely on our member volunteers to make side dishes, desserts help with set up, serving and clean up. We also ask for a donation to the WOTM if the family is able, to pay it forward to help the next family. We hate to upset anyone by turning them down, but we can’t ask our volunteers to help for nonmembers or more distant relatives, etc. A member may be able to have a funeral luncheon at the Lodge for someone outside of our policy. They would need to set it up with the Manager and Administrator and pay for the meal. Up Coming Meetings: Monday May 4th (Board & Audit Committee), & guest speaker Denise Kiepert Wednesday May 27th (Board) **The Board meeting on Monday June 1st will be held on the Lake, if weather permits! If not the first meeting in July (6th) will be on the water. Refreshments provided. Wed June 24th All meetings start at 5:30pm Up Coming events: Pontoon Rally / Poker run Saturday July 25th. Start planning now! Prizes for best boat decoration and best costumes. If you live on the lake( or have a friend or family member), and our willing to let us use your dock, please let us know. More details to follow in June newsletter.
