28TH SEASON

The most successful coach in University of Arkansas and Southeastern Conference wom-en’s cross country and track and field history, Lance Harter is in his 28th year at the helm of the Razorback program. Harter’s individual honors include five-time National Coach of the Year and 33-time SEC Coach of the Year accolades. His Razorbacks have racked up 25 NCAA event titles, 161 SEC event titles and over 450 All-America certificates through the 2017 cross country season.

During his tenure, Arkansas has collected 13 NCAA podium (top four) finishes includ-ing the 2016 NCAA Outdoor Championship team title, 2015 NCAA Indoor Championship team title and five national runner-up performances – four of those from cross country.

The sprint and hurdle coach for the Razorbacks began his Arkansas career by coaching his stu-dent-athletes to four All-America honors, a national championship in the 4X400-meter relay outdoors and a pair of top 10 team finishes at the NCAA Championships. He added to his collec-tion of awards in 2016 and 2017, claiming his 10th and 11th USTFCCCA Regional Coaching honors, following the development of one of the most pronounced sprints and multis contingents in the country which boasted another 400 specialist in Philadelphia native Taylor Ellis-Watson.

Joining the Razorbacks in the fall of 1998, Bryan Compton has proven to Arkansas that he was an invaluable addition for its coaching staff. In 19 years of working with the Razorback field event personnel and multi-event competitors, Compton’s student- athletes have earned 91 All-Amer-ican honors. Additionally under his watch over 20 school records have been set. Individually, Compton has also been recognized for his student-athletes success named the 2005 USTFCCCA Mideast Region Assistant Coach of the Year.

Former Razorback track All-American Megan (Jackson) Elliott re-joined the Arkansas cross coun-try/track coaching staff as Director of Operations in August 2014 after a brief one-year stint as an assistant coach at IUPUI. The Middlebury, Ind., native will assist Head Coach Lance Harter in all facets of leading the program, including training, recruiting, fund raising and academic over-sight. Elliott is also heavily involved with practice structuring, individual workouts and on-cam-pus recruiting. She also is charged with coordinating the University of Arkansas Track Camps.
