LORD’S ACRE FALL FESTIVALOctober 2nd: 4-8 p.m.

For over forty years Aledo UMC has celebrated this annual fall festival. Join the fun this year and be a part of Lord’s Acre. Please consider making or purchasing items for the Bake Sale, Country Store, Cake Walk, Kids Carnival or the Silent or Live Auctions. Make plans to attend and enjoy good food, fellowship and shopping. Watch for volunteer sign-up information in the Narthex soon. This is one of the few events in the life of our Church that involves everyone. Don’t miss out! Funds raised support the missions and ministries of Aledo United Methodist Church. Call me for more information: Janice Cole, Lord’s Acre Chair 817-441-9100.

The school year has begun which means that Wonderful Wednesday’s are almost back! I

am looking forward to my first experience with Wonderful Wednesday, especially since these types of small group settings provide an opportunity for us to all get to know one another even better. The kick-off for Wonderful Wednesday’s is Wednesday, September 15th! Please put that on your calendar. You can find out all of the information about the kick-off event and about Wonderful Wednesdays in this newsletter!

Home Improvement was a television series that I enjoyed watching. The show focused

on physical improvements of houses while at the same time focusing on improving life in the home focusing on family, friends, work, and school. In our sermon series, Home Improvement, we have been and will continue to talk about the little things that we can do that affect the home in big ways. Whether our home consists of one person or one hundred, we can all use a little home improvement from time to time to help us with family, friends, work, and/or school.

I hope to see you at Wonderful Wednesday’s as well as worship as we continue to grow on our faith journey together.

May the Lord bless you and keep you,

Jason

From The Pastor:

Thank you to all those that worked the UMW garage sale before it started, those that worked it, those that shopped it, and for all those that donated their items to make it such a success. To date the total for the garage sale is $4,100!

A GUEST IN A HOLY PLACE

Dear God, I don’t really want everyone to be just like me, but sometimes I think it sure would make life a lot easier. Help me honor the uniqueness of those who suffer and the uniqueness of their suffering. Guide me as I enter the place where they are. Teach me how to move toward understanding as I get to know each of them as individuals, even as Jesus knows me.

How to Relate to Those Who Are Suffering

ROOTS(IN PICTURES) OF

ALEDO UNITED METHODIST CHURCH

Pastor Jason Jones has begun his ministry at Aledo United Methodist with a sermon series entitled “Roots”. How appropriate, because Susan Karnes, author of a new book about the Aledo area history and AUMC member, is assisting

in our application for a historical marker for the church. In the process we hope to update our written history as well.

While local Methodist archives (conference, seminary, etc.) have much written material from which to draw, there are very few pictorial records of our church available. We are asking that each of you who has been a member for some time to search your photo albums and collections for any pictures of church life at Aledo PRIOR TO 1980 (we will build on that record

going forward at a later date). Examples would be Sunday School Class pictures, mission activities, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Me, Vacation Bible School, youth activities, etc.

Please be assured your treasured photos will be computer scanned and returned to you promptly. If you can assist in the endeavor, please contact:

Susan Karnes at 817.441-7810 orNelda McGlinchey at 817-443-0218.
