Big Day In A HUGE vote of thanks goes out to all parents and community members who assisted in making our Big Day In (Gala Sports Day) so successful last Friday. Every bit of assistance, from cooking and serving food, helping set up and pack away, from running groups and even just being here to cheer on and support makes this day so much more complete. I extend the thanks of the staff and students of our school, along with those conveyed to me from our partner schools of Broadwater, Coraki and Evans River. I also wish to commend the behaviour and enthusiasm of all of our own students. The willingness to get in and have a go really sets a positive tone for such a big day, along with being an example of the standards we expect from visiting students. Finally to all of the staff who worked busily throughout the day, recognition is due to you all. Staff from each school joined in to support the flow of activities throughout the day and ensured students had a very busy and enjoyable time. community of schools to start developing a united approach to prepare each school for the successful implementation. By working effectively together staff will share in professional learning and awareness raising between now and the end of next year so that we are all well positioned for a smooth transition into 2014. I am thrilled to see that the four schools are working collaboratively on this project. A community of schools mathematics team is also forming as we prepare for the mandatory implementation of a new maths syllabus in 2015.

Car Park SafetySo far staff have indicated that entry and exit to our school has improved again, but still we have steps to undertake to minimise the concerns of a potential injury. I have heard talk that this seems a trivial matter and one that some people don’t feel is a priority, but I assure you from a school perspective the safety and wellbeing of all students (and others) in our school is a priority. Your continued support and cooperation by bringing students and collecting them from the front gate is appreciated.

Stray CatI made mention of the cat that is frequenting our school last week. Sadly it continues to frequent the school, entering classes and sniffing around students bags. I am hoping that the owners of this cat can attend to its wellbeing before further action has to be sought to try and have the cat removed from the school site.

Until next week......

SRC NewsAs Footy Colours Day coincided with the Big Day In, we have changed the date to the last day of term, wear your team colours, bring in a gold coin donation and help support kids living with cancer.

In Term 4 the SRC will be putting forward student names for an SRC RIPA, there will be an additional RIPA drawn out at each assembly.

To support running the Big Day In the SRC has just purchased a new BBQ and esky for the sausage sizzle. Your support of Entertainment Nights makes this possible.
