The Daintree Rainforest I would like to go to the Daintree Rainforest because the animals are close to you. To see the Great Barrier Reef. To see all of the birds

flying from tree to tree. To see the three -toed sloth. To go on a boat tour and if you are lucky enough you might see a saltwater crocodile hiding in the water.

Achieving Success in a Caring Environment

Dear Parents and Caregivers Dance Festival This week has been a busy week for our dancers and dance teachers. Two dance groups performed at the Monday matinee and evening performance. Today, our third group is also performing at a matinee and evening performance. Our students have been excellent representatives and have excelled in their commitment to dance, with lots of energy and excitement. Photos and comments will be included in the next newsletter. Phone Problems Apologies if you have tried to contact the school this week. Presently we do not have phone services. We are not able to ring out and we are also not able to accept incoming calls. I understand this is frustrating but it is beyond our control. According to Telstra there is a cut cable affecting our landline. Repair work is being complicated by the extreme weather that our area has experienced and the water logged soil that still remains. Best case scenario is that our phone line will be operational by Friday this week. Play to Learn Group Unfortunately, due to low attendance, a tight support timetable and our facilitator returning to work, this week will be the last week that the Play to Learn group will operate. We are hoping that this is a temporary issue. If you are interested in facilitating this activity and raising its profile please contact the school. Nationally consistent collection of data on school students with disability – 2016 Our school, like all schools across Australia, is participating in the collection of nationally consistent data on school students with disability. We will be collecting information already available in the school about the support that is being provided to students with disability. The data collection will have no direct impact on your child and they will not be involved in any testing process. The NSW Department of Education will provide data to the Australian Government from all NSW Public Schools in such a way that no individual student or school will be able to be identified. In this way, we will ensure the privacy and confidentially of all students. All information is protected by privacy laws which regulate the collection, storage and disclosure of personal information. Information about the Australian Government’s Privacy Policy can be found here: http://education.gov.au/condensed-privacy-policy. Information about the NSW Government’s privacy policy can be found here: http://www.ipc.nsw.gov.au/ Further information about the data collection can be found on the Australian Government Department of Education website: http://education.gov.au/nationally-consistent-collection-data-school-students-disability . There is no longer an opt out option for parents. Kindergarten Enrolments for 2017 Presently we are accepting enrolments for Kindergarten 2017. If you know of anyone who has a child attending Kindergarten next year please let them know that it is time to enrol at their new school. Our Getting Ready for School program will begin next term on Friday 26 August in Week 6. The aim of the program is to teach pre reading and writing skills as well as early numeracy skills. The details of the program are on our website or through the school office. Regards Carol Gruden Principal
