Wootton School will ensure a first class education for all

within a challenging, secure and happy environment for learning.

Dear Parents and Friends, 1.7.2016

On Monday two librarians from Ryde library joined us in assembly to launch the Summer Reading Challenge. The

theme this year is Roald Dahl and to complete the challenge the children need to read a minimum of six books. As

they progress through the challenge they receive a variety of goodies to spur them on, with a medal and certificate at

the end to recognise their achievement. Any child wishing to participate needs to visit the library with their library

card, or sign up for one if they do not have one yet. We have taken on the challenge to be the school with the

highest number of participants- so please do join in!

I hope that the Year 6 children enjoyed their transition days at their new secondary schools this week. In school our

children spent Thursday and Friday in the new classrooms with the new staff they will be working with in September.

It was lovely to see the new Reception intake all together for the first time and we look forward to them joining us in

the autumn.

Unfortunately, as yet we have not been able to reschedule the sports day. Having spoken with Mr King and Mrs Fish it

is likely that the children will still undertake the activities, but it will probably need to be during their PE lessons now,

unless we get a good dry spell when nothing else is happening at school. It is important therefore, that all children

have their PE kit in school every day. If a decision is taken to put it on in a more formal way, then of course we will

notify parents and carers by text.

Kind regards

Peta Mather
