August 5th-7th-Beef Cattle Short Course Dr. John Pensons Retirement Celebration On Wednesday afternoon, June 26, we had a retirement reception honoring Dr. John Penson . Dr. Penson came to Texas A&M in 1975, and contributed to our departments teaching, research, and service missions for 44 years. Dr. Pensons wife Donna, daughter, several family members, former students, current students, and faculty and staff were in attendance. I would like to thank Dr. Oral Capps, Loren Burns, Sandra Norman, Tracy Davis, Catherine Bowden, and Emily Andrus for their help in planning and coordinating the event. Ty Timm Honor Registry Inductions On Saturday evening, June 22, Jimmie Holder ’53, Randolph W. House ’67, and John S. Malazzo’67 were inducted into the Tyrus R. Tymm Honor Registry at a ceremony at Christophers World Grille. Mr. Holder was inducted by Mr. Troy Thompson ’89, General House was inducted by Mr. Gary Richardson ’76 , and Mr. Malazzo was inducted by Dr. John Miller. Mr. Thompson, Mr. Richardson and Dr. Miller are all current Timm Honor Registry members. Web-links to interviews and photos from the event are listed on the page three of this weeks newsletter. High Impact Learning/Student Study Abroad The AGEC Scotland Agribusiness Field trip for 2019 traveled in the United Kingdom from May 12 through May 31. Dr. Dusty Menzies led 26 AGEC and AGBU students on the three-week trip that included stops at agribusinesses, cul- tural sites, and historic locations. The trip started in London and then moved to Edinburgh via train. The group stayed six nights in Edinburgh and visited Whitmuir Organic Farms, St. Andrews Cheesemaker, and the Locharron Tartan Mill, as well as several historic sites. The second stop was Inverness and included a tour of Loch Ness, and to Urquhart Castle. A day was spent north of Inverness, touring Culmaily Farms, a family owned grain, sheep and cattle farm, Dunrobin Castle, and Glenfiddich Distillery. The final stop was in Stirling, included visits to Barker Highland Cattle, Netherton Angus, the Scottish Wool Centre, the Falkirk Wheel, and the Kelpies statues. The trip concluded with tours of Stirling Castle and the William Wallace Monument. I hope you all have a great weekend.

Dr. John Penson’s Retirement Celebration On Wednesday afternoon, June 26, we had a retirement reception honoring Dr. John Penson. Dr. Penson

came to Texas A&M in 1975, and contributed to our departments teaching, research, and service missions for 44 years. Dr. Penson’s wife Donna, daughter, several family members, former students, current students, and faculty and staff were in attendance.
