Words affect your thinking• An experiment was conducted to find out whether words have a psychological effect

on people's moods or not by bringing three groups and giving each of them a word based puzzle to solve.

• The first group was given a puzzle that had words like "anger" and "rude“, the second group was given a puzzle that had words like "calm" and “polite”, while the third group was given a puzzle that had neutral words.

• Right after solving the puzzle they were all asked to leave to another room where a person kept the three groups waiting.

• The first group of people who were exposed to the rude words was found to respond more aggressively to the person who wasted their time!!

• The second group of people who were exposed to the polite words was more polite to the person who wasted their time while the third group had a neutral response!!!

Words can change your World• It’s clear from the previous experiment that the words you use get

imprinted in your mind and then affect your way of thinking and performance.

• Numerous studies in Psychology particularly ‘Positive Psychology’ have corroborated this fact.

• The experiment proved that words have a temporary effect that lasts for sometime right after we get exposed to them but what if you are constantly repeating the same words to yourself over and over again ?

Words have power to heal and destroy

• According to the study published in the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, "You may actually end up changing your own behavior and thoughts to match what you constantly read.”

• Little words can have a big impact. The Great Battle of Mahabharata happened due to Duryodhana’s insult by Draupadi.

• Similarly some truly inspiring words by great personalities changed the course of Indian Freedom Struggle :– Mahatama Gandhi (“Do or Die” and “Quit India” slogan)– Subhas Chandra Bose (“Give me blood and I will give you

freedom!”)

Which is the most dangerous word?

• The answer is NO.• How many times you use “No”?• When someone asks you to do some work – what comes to your mind?• Do you remember any 3 events in last six months which went well?• Other negative words:

Impact of negative words • If you were put into an MRI and word “NO” is flashed, you’d see a

sudden release of dozens of stress-producing hormones and neurotransmitters.

• These chemicals immediately interrupt the normal functioning of your brain, impairing logic, reason, language processing, and communication.

• Negative Words start developing stress in the mind of the listener.

Yin - Yang • Negative Yin energy and positive Yang energy connect to emotional

streams very closely and with our fortune.

• Sunny side of a life connects to positive Yang energy. Positive energy can be accumulated and transformed from negative energy.

• To solve your problems, to realize dreams, it is necessary to move purposefully to the sunny side of life. Only there, one finds guarantee that everything you want will come and will get all the pleasures of the life.

• If the person expects happiness, but does not go to the sunny side of a life, his chances to find and construct around himself that world which he wants, are lost forever.

Positive Transformation• All people have identical starting opportunities to transform the life for

everlasting happiness and to gain all the treasures of the life.

• Every person has an identical opportunity to be happy, but only some take advantage, and others do not.

• Magic of positive psychology guarantees to transform you in a happy, cheerful, and successful person.

Impact of Positive Words • Positive words and thoughts propel the motivational centres of the brain into action.

• They help in building resilience when faced with life’s problems.

• According to Sonja, one of the world’s leading researchers on happiness, if you want to develop lifelong satisfaction: – you should regularly engage in positive thinking about yourself– share your happiest events with others, and enjoy every positive experience in

your life.

• Research has shown, the mere repetition of positive words like love, peace, and compassion will turn on specific genes that lower your physical and emotional stress.

• You feel better, live longer, and build more trusting relationships with others—at home and at work as well.

Which is the most powerful word in the world?

• It is a three letter word that carries great meaning and power. That word is

YES. • As Fredrickson (a famous psychologist) point out, when you generate a

minimum of five positive thoughts to each negative one, you’ll experience “an optimal range of human functioning.”

• In a Harvard Business Review conversation, Psychologist John M Gottman was asked: “What’s your biggest discovery?”

• Gottman replied: “It sounds simple, it is YES! People say ‘no’ out of habit. They resist ‘yes’ because they mistakenly equate ‘no’ with independence. But they deprive themselves of the one thing more powerful than NO, which is YES.”
